Telangana Unions give interest free loans

Leaders of the TNGOs and Gazetted Officers Associations are adopting a new strategy to sustain the ongoing Sakala Janula Samme for some more time and avoid pressure from lower cadre employees who are facing financial problems due to the ‘no work no pay’ policy implemented by the state government

These leaders are giving interest-free loans of up to Rs 5,000 from their association funds to each class IV and needy employee to meet their needs including that of festivals to retain them in the strike. So far, revenue, audit, agriculture, health, government drivers union, cooperative union have given loans in the form of cheques or cash to the needy lower cadre employees in the district. All associations put together, have given interest free loans ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 to nearly 1,000 class IV and poor employees so far in the district.

Speaking to this newspaper, Telangana Employees JAC district convenor, Mr M. Rajeshwar Reddy. said they were making efforts to sustain the Sakala Janula Samme for more time. He said that he had suggested to the leaders of various departmental associations to give interest-free loans to their class IV employees with the money they were spending on free meals for striking employees every day. The leaders of TNGOs and other organisations are in a piquant situation as they can not withdraw from the strike now unlike non-cooperation movement. They have to continue till the demand for withdrawal comes from the people themselves.
