The top brass of the police department wants transfers due to Telangana Agitation

If you thought that only the people of Telangana region are facing the brunt of the people’s strike, read on. Many among the top brass of the police department, who have been entrusted with the difficult task of handling the protests and taming the protesters, want to opt out of the region and seek a quiet posting somewhere else. Many cops posted in Hyderabad city have put in their requests for a transfer and this includes DCP central zone Akun Sabarwal, DCP west zone Stephen Ravindra, DCP south zone Vineet Brijlal and DCP traffic Malla Reddy. But their transfer requests have not been acted upon. Brijlal has already secured a central deputation as CBI superintendent at Chandigarh, but despite the agency’s special director Balwinder Singh meeting DGP Dinesh Reddy last week and seeking the relieving order of Brijlal, there has been no progress. As a result, the four DCPs have been left with the task of handling the separate state agitation which is threatening to further intensify in the coming days.
