In a recent development, the JAC (Join Action Committee) has seized the residences of Congress ministers and legislators in Hyderabad.
"Raising slogans of 'Jai Telangana,' leaders and workers of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other constituents of the JAC laid siege to the houses of public representatives," reports DNA.
In another development 32 Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs from the region resigned from Andhra Pradesh Assembly  demanding a separate state. Public transport and power production have shut down due to the ongoing stir which was launched by JAC on Sept. 13, demanding separate statehood for Telangana.  

Meanwhile, newspaper hawkers, vendors, teachers and lawyers have joined the strike in support of a separate statehood.  According to media reports, the administration remained paralyzed in the region as over 400,000 government employees stayed away from offices. As the protests turn violent, the ongoing 17-day long agitation has hit businesses across the state. Industries have suffered with reports putting per day losses at over Rs 100 crore. Media reports that the coal production in Singareni mines spread over four districts in Telangana remains crippled. The state-owned Singareni Collieries have so far suffered a loss of more than Rs 500 crore due to the strike by the majority of its 70,000 workers.

Over 10,000 buses of the state-owned Road Transport Corporation (RTC) remained off the road across the region as employees continued the strike. The governance in the state has been affected as the employees held a demonstration and demanded  to close down the state secretariat, which is the seat of governance. Meanwhile, the state government has deployed Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Police personnel at the secretariat to ensure smooth governance in the state. Tight security arrangements were also made at the Vanasthalipuram neighbourhood, where Telangana protestors have been trying to stop buses carrying employees to the secretariat. "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson president Sonia Gandhi must resolve the issue otherwise it would spiral out of control," said Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, calling for an immediate intervention by the central government.

Crucial report submitted to Sonia Gandhi on Telangana statehood

The government is struggling to decide whether Andhra Pradesh should be bifurcated to create a new state of Telangana. Several politicians who are from Telangana are in Delhi now to push their cause. In Andhra Pradesh, a general strike in support of a separate Telangana state entered its 18th day today. Trains have been affected in the last few days, businesses have been forced to close down, and politicians are finding themselves in a tough position with voters demanding that they quit if they can't deliver on their promise for a new state with Hyderabad as its capital.


In Delhi, Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who is also in charge of Andhra Pradesh for the Congress  has delivered a report to party president Sonia Gandhi this evening.  Mr Azad has spent the last  few months touring the state, and meeting with representatives of its three regions-  Coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana.

The Congress Core group is meeting now to discuss Mr Azad's report at length. Besides Mr Azad, Home Minister P Chidambaram, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minster AK Antony are at the meeting. This is the first session of senior leaders attended by Mrs Gandhi since she returned to Delhi from a six-week trip to the US for an operation.

The demand for a Telangana state is led by K Chandraskehara Rao also known as KCR and his party, the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti.   Leaders from other parties like the Congress, who also come from Telangana, have backed KCR's call.   Recently, pro-Telangana supporters have been surrounding the homes of Congress leaders, a pressure tactic bordering on intimidation.  KCR will arrive in Delhi tonight to meet with the Prime Minister and the President.

Last night, the government's senior-most minister, Pranab Mukherjee, held extensive consultations with Congressmen from  Telangana who say they cannot return home without a commitment on a new state.

Those who are not from Telangana oppose the bifurcation of the state, not least because it could involve surrendering or sharing the economically-prosperous city of Hyderabad.  Yesterday, KCR made it clear that on Thursday made it clear that  a Telangana state without Hyderabad as its capital is unacceptable as a solution.

Bandh in Hyderabad, talks in Delhi

As the general strike in support of a separate Telangana state enters its 18th day today, Congress central leadership is meeting some of its leaders from the region to find a solution to the crisis.

Last evening, senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee met some Telangana Congress MPs who are camping in Delhi and have refused to return to Hyderabad till there is a definite word from the UPA leadership on formation of Telangana.

Mr Mukherjee is said to have assured the delegation that he will take up the issue with the Prime Minister and the Congress president on priority basis. The leaders are likely to meet the PM and President today itself. Congress in charge of Andhra Pradesh, Ghulam Nabi Azad, is expected to submit an internal report on Telangana crisis to the party today.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Joint Action Committee has called a bandh in Hyderabad today.  Protesters have now shifted their focus on putting pressure on elected representatives and ministers in the Congress government to resign. For this, the protesters are gheraoing their homes and not allowing them to move around freely in the Telangana region.

Labour Minister Danam Nagender faced the ire of the protesters yesterday as the members of the Telangana Joint Action Committee sat outside his residence in Hyderabad.

"We demand that Danam Nagender must immediately resign from his post," said a protester.

"They have no right to ask for my resignation or that of any other Congress leader. Minister Komti Reddy resigned but people still threw chappals on him. What is their fate if this is how resigned MLAs and ministers are treated," said Mr Nagender.

These activists also surrounded the homes of many other Congress elected representatives in several Telangana districts.

"If our Congress leaders were good, then by now a Bill on Telangana would have been presented in Parliament and Telangana state would have been formed," said another protester.

This is being seen as an attempt by TRS-led pro-Telangana groups to pressurise the elected representatives asking them to resign and join the strike or face the ire of the people.

"It is a demand by the people of Telangana, not KCR alone. It is a popular demand that all Telangana public representatives must resign, so that the Centre is moved and the issue is solved," TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao said on Thursday.

Sonia to decide on Telangana Statehood

The Congress finally woke up to the Telangana crisis as the agitation in the region entered the 18th day. A day after veteran leader Pranab Mukherjee held discussions with Congress MPs over the issue, Andhra Pradesh in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad is set to submit a report on the crisis to party president Sonia Gandhi on Friday.
Azad will submit an internal party report over the Telangana crisis to the Congress president, following which Sonia is likely to take a final call on the issue.
The Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC) earlier demanded a stand on the issue by the Congress. The party leadership has so far been mum on the agitation.
The JAC has called for a shut down in Hyderabad on Friday as part of its protest programmes to mount pressure on the Centre to accept the separate statehood demand.
Meanwhile, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekhar Rao is slated to arrive in New Delhi on Friday.
Rao will seek an appointment with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil over the weekend.

న్యూఢిల్లీ, సెప్టెంబర్ 29 (టీన్యూస్) : రెండు నెలల క్రితం కాంగ్రెస్‌కు చెందిన తెలంగాణ, సీమాంధ్ర ప్రజా ప్రతినిధులతో చేపట్టిన చర్చల ప్రక్రియను బుధవారం ముగించిన రాష్ట్ర పార్టీ వ్యవహారాల ఇన్‌చార్జి గులాం నబీ ఆజాద్ శుక్రవారం నాడు తన నివేదికను పార్టీ, ప్రభుత్వ పెద్దలకు సమర్పించనున్నారు. రాష్ట్రంలో నెలకొన్న ఉద్రిక్త పరిస్థితుల దృష్ట్యా, సమస్యను త్వరగా పరిష్కరించే విధంగా నివేదిక 15 పేజీలకు మించకుండా ఆయన జాగ్రత్త పడుతున్నారు. నెలలోపే తెలంగాణ సమస్యకు పరిష్కారం వస్తుందని ఢిల్లీలో విలేకరులతో మాట్లాడిన పీసీసీ చీఫ్ బొత్స సత్యనారాయణ కూడా చెప్పారు. ‘రాష్ట్రంలోని ఇరు ప్రాంతాల ప్రజల మనోభావాలతో పాటు దేశ పరిస్థితులను పరిగణనలోకి తీసుకుని ఆయా ప్రాంతాల ప్రజల ప్రయోజనాలకు దగ్గరగా పరిష్కారం ఉంటుంది’ అని బొత్స అన్నారు. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో అందరి దృష్టీ ప్రధాని నివాసంలో శుక్రవారం సాయంత్రం జరిగే కాంగ్రెస్ కోర్‌కమిటీ సమావేశంపైనే కేంద్రీకృతమైంది. ఆజాద్ తన నివేదికను కోర్‌కమిటీ సమావేశంలో పెద్దలకు అందించనున్నారు.

దానిపై కోర్ కమిటీ సభ్యులైన ప్రధాని మన్మోహన్, యూపీఏ చైర్మన్, పార్టీ అధినేత్రి సోనియాగాంధీ, మంత్రులు ప్రణబ్ ముఖర్జీ, చిదంబరం, ఆంటోనీ, సోనియా రాజకీయ కార్యదర్శి అహ్మద్ పటేల్ చర్చించనున్నారు. ప్రతి శుక్రవారం అత్యంత కీలక దేశీయ అంశాలపై చర్చ జరిపే కోర్ కమిటీ, ఈ వారం పూర్తిగా తెలంగాణ సమస్య పరిష్కారం పైనే దృష్టి సారించనుంది. అందుకు అనుగుణంగా కేంద్ర మంత్రులు ప్రణబ్, చిదంబరం మధ్య రగులుతున్న 2జీ వివాదాన్ని అత్యవసరంగా గురువారమే ముగించింది. 2జీ వ్యవహారంలో చిదంబరం పాత్రపై అనుమానాలు వ్యక్తం చేస్తూ ప్రధాని కార్యాలయానికి లేఖ రాసిన ప్రణబ్‌తో అధినేత్రి సోనియాగాంధీ సమావేశమై వివాదానికి తెరదించాలని సూచించారు. ‘‘ఆంవూధవూపదేశ్‌లో ప్రత్యేక తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రం కోసం జరుగుతున్న ఆందోళనలు తీవ్రమవుతున్నందున, దానిపై దృష్టి సారించాల్సిన అవసరం ఉంది. కనుక 2జీ వ్యవహారానికి ముగింపు పలకాలి’’ అని సోనియా ప్రణబ్‌ను ఆదేశించారు.

దీనికి అనుగుణంగా చిదంబరంతో కలిసి ప్రధానితో సమావేశమైన ప్రణబ్ అనంతరం విలేకరులతో మాట్లాడుతూ తమ మధ్య నెలకొన్న వివాదాన్ని ముగిసిన అధ్యాయంగా అభివర్ణించారు. ప్రణబ్ ప్రకటనను స్వాగతిస్తున్నానంటూ చిదంబరం కూడా వివాదానికి తాత్కాలికంగానైనా ముగింపు పలికారు. దీంతో తెలంగాణ సమస్య పరిష్కారానికి కోర్ కమిటీలో పూర్తి స్థాయి చర్చకు ఆస్కారం కల్పించినట్లయింది. అందుకే శుక్రవారం నాడు జరగనున్న సమావేశంలో ఆజాద్ అందించే నివేదికపైనే సభ్యుల మధ్య చర్చ జరగనుంది. తెలంగాణ విషయంలో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన జస్టిస్ శ్రీకృష్ణ కమిటీ నివేదిక నిర్దిష్ట సిఫారసు చేయకుండా ఆరు ప్రత్యామ్నాయాలు సూచించడం వల్లే సమస్య మరింత జటిలమైందన్న అసంతృప్తి చాలా వర్గాల్లో వ్యక్తమైంది. ఈసారి ఆజాద్ తన నివేదికలో సమస్య పరిష్కారానికి కచ్చితమైన మార్గాన్ని చూపించనున్నట్లు సమాచారం. అలా వీలుకానిపక్షంలో అన్ని ప్రాంతాల ప్రజలను సంతృప్తిపరిచే విధంగా రెండు ప్రత్యామ్నాయాలు ప్రతిపాదించే అవకాశం కూడా ఉందని సమాచారం.

వీటిపై విస్తృతంగా చర్చించనున్న కోర్‌కమిటీ.. కచ్చితంగా ఒక నిర్ణయానికి రావాల్సి ఉంది. ఏది ఏమైనా తెలంగాణలో సకల జనుల సమ్మె ఉధృతంగా సాగుతుండటం, తెలంగాణపై రోడ్ మ్యాప్ ఖరారు కానంతవరకు ఢిల్లీలోనే ఉంటామని టీ కాంగ్రెస్ నేతలు ప్రకటించడం వారిపై ఒత్తిడిని పెంచే అవకాశాలు ఉన్నాయి. ఈ నేపథ్యంలో కాంగ్రెస్ అధిష్ఠానం పార్టీ వైఖరిని బయటపెట్టక తప్పని స్థితిలో పడిపోయింది. ఒక్కసారి కోర్ కమిటీలో నిర్ణయం జరిగిపోయిందంటే దానికి పార్టీ, ప్రభుత్వం కట్టుబడి ఉండాల్సిందే. పార్టీలో ట్రబుల్ షూటర్లుగా పేరున్న నలుగురు నాయకులు మంత్రివర్గంలోనూ కీలక పాత్ర పోషించనున్నందున కోర్ కమిటీ నిర్ణయాన్ని వ్యతిరేకించే సాహసం ఎవరూ చేసే అవకాశం లేదు. కోర్ కమిటీలో నిర్ణయం జరగనందునే డిసెంబర్ 9 ప్రకటనను వ్యతిరేకించే సాహసాన్ని సీమాంధ్ర నాయకత్వం చేసిందన్న అభివూపాయంతో ఉన్న పార్టీ అధిష్ఠానం.. ఈసారి అన్ని జాగ్రత్తలూ తీసుకుంటున్నట్లు సమాచారం.

ఒకవేళ కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వంలోని భాగస్వామ్య పక్షాల్లో ఒకరిద్దరు వివిధ కారణాల వల్ల వ్యతిరేకించినా మెజార్టీ నిర్ణయానికి అందరూ కట్టుబడి ఉండాల్సిందే. మంత్రి వర్గంలో మెజార్టీ సభ్యులు కాంగ్రెస్, దానికి విశ్వాస పాత్రమైన పార్టీల వారే ఉండటంతో తెలంగాణపై కోర్ కమిటీదే అంతిమ నిర్ణయమవుతుందని పరిశీలకులు అంటున్నారు. ఎవరైనా వ్యతిరేకించినా వారి వారి అవసరాల దృష్ట్యా ప్రభుత్వం నుంచి వైదొలిగే సాహసం చేసే పరిస్థితి లేదు. ఇటు చర్చల ప్రక్రియను పూర్తి చేసిన ఆజాద్ కూడా గురువారం పీసీసీ అధ్యక్షుడితో సమావేశమై తన నిర్ణయాన్ని చూచాయగా తెలియజేసినట్లు సమాచారం.

విషయం బయటకు పొక్కితే ఎలాంటి సమస్యలు తలెత్తుతాయోనన్న భయంతో పార్టీ సీనియర్ నాయకులకు కూడా విషయం తెలియకుండా జాగ్రత్తలు పాటిస్తున్నారు. ఆ క్రమంలోనే బొత్స తన విలేకరుల సమావేశంలో ఆకుకు అందకుండా.. పోకకు పొందకుండా అన్నట్లు మాట్లాడారు. కోర్ కమిటీ చర్చించి చేసే నిర్ణయాన్ని రాష్ట్ర నేతలకు చేరవేయడానికి వీలుగా తనతో మరోసారి సమావేశం కావాలని బొత్సకు ఆజాద్ సూచించడంతోనే ఆయన తన ఢిల్లీ పర్యటనను మరో రోజు పొడిగించుకున్నారని సమాచారం. మొత్తంగా శుక్రవారం జరగనున్న కోర్ కమిటీ సమావేశం తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమ చరివూతలో అత్యంత కీలకం కానుంది.

తెలంగాణ భవిష్యత్తును తేల్చనున్న సమావేశం కావటంతో అందరిలోనూ ఉత్కంఠ నెలకొంది. ఇదిలా ఉండగా కాంగ్రెస్‌లో సంక్షోభ పరిష్కర్తగా పేరుగాంచిన ప్రణబ్ కూడా తెలంగాణ అంశంపై రంగంలోకి దిగారు. సోనియా ఆదేశాల మేరకు ఆయన గురువారం రాత్రి తెలంగాణ ప్రాంత ప్రజా ప్రతినిధులతో సమావేశమయ్యారు. వారితో సుదీర్ఘ సంప్రతింపులు జరిపారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా తెలంగాణ ఇవ్వాల్సిన ఆవశ్యకతను నేతలు మరోసారి ప్రణబ్‌కు వివరించినట్లు సమాచారం.

ద్వివేదీతో సమావేశమైన టీ నేతలు
అంతకు ముందు పార్టీ అధినేత్రి సోనియాకు అత్యంత విశ్వాసపావూతుడైన కాంగ్రెస్ ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి జనార్దన్ ద్వివేదీతో ీ కాంగ్రెస్‌నేతలు సమావేశమయ్యారు. పార్టీ కేంద్ర కార్యాలయంలో ఆయనతో దాదాపు ముప్పావు గంటకు పైగా సమావేశమైన నేతలు తమ గోడును వెళ్లబోసుకున్నారు. ముఖ్యంగా సమ్మె ప్రభావంతో పాటు తాము ఢిల్లీకే పరిమితమైన పరిస్థితిని వివరించి, తెలంగాణపై త్వరగా నిర్ణయం జరగాలని కోరారు. తెలంగాణను సత్వరమే ప్రకటించని పక్షంలో కాంగ్రెస్‌కు పుట్టగతులుండవని ఆయనకు చెప్పారు.
ఆజాద్ తన నివేదికను శుక్రవారం సమర్పించనున్నందున తెలంగాణకు అనుకూలంగా నిర్ణయం వచ్చే విధంగా మీ వంతు పాత్ర పోషించాలని ఆయ కు విజ్ఞప్తి చేశారు. ఇవే విషయాలను కాంగ్రెస్ కార్యదర్శి ఆస్కార్ ఫెర్నాండెజ్ దృష్టికి కూడా టీ నేతలు తీసుకొచ్చారు.

ద్వివేదీతో జరిగిన సమావేశంలో మంత్రులు సారయ్య, శ్రీధర్‌బాబు, డీకే అరుణ, సునీతా లక్ష్మాడ్డి, ఎంపీలు పొన్నం ప్రభాకర్, రాజయ్య, బలరాం నాయక్, ఎమ్మెల్యేలు సోమారపు సత్యనారాయణ, ప్రవీణ్ రెడ్డి తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు. అనంతరం విలేకరులతో మాట్లాడిన మంత్రులు సారయ్య, సునీత తదితరులు తెలంగాణకు అనుకూల నిర్ణయం వస్తుందన్న నమ్మకాన్ని వ్యక్తం చేశారు. ద్వివేదీతో జరిగిన సమావేశంలో కాంగ్రెస్ తెలంగాణను ఇస్తుందన్న నమ్మకం తమకు కలిగినట్లు తెలిపారు. తెలంగాణపై రోడ్ మ్యాప్ ఖరారు అయ్యేంత వరకు ఢిల్లీలోనే ఉండి ఇతర పెద్దలను కలుస్తామని అన్నారు.

సాయంత్రం సోనియాతో ఆజాద్ భేటీ

కాంగ్రెస్ అధినేత్రి సోనియా గాంధీతో ఈ రోజు సాయంత్రం 7.30 గంటలకు రాష్ట్ర వ్యవహారాల ఇన్‌చార్జి గులాం నబీ ఆజాద్ భేటీ కానున్నారు. తెలంగాణ అంశంపై సోనియా గాంధీకి ఆజాద్ నివేదిక ఇవ్వనున్నారు. క్యాబినేట్ సమావేశంలో అధిష్టాన పెద్దలతో తెలంగాణ అంశంపై ఆజాద్ సమాలోచనలు జరుపుతున్నారు. 15 పేజీలకు మించకుండా నివేదికను సిద్ధం చేసినట్లు సమాచారం.

శాశ్వత పరిష్కారం

సకల జనుల ఉద్యమం రెండు వారాలు దాటింది. ఇవాళ్ళ హైదరాబాద్ బంద్ జరుగుతున్నది. ఇప్పటికే మంత్రుల ఇళ్ళకు కూడా ఉద్యమ సెగ తగిలింది. ఇక్కడే కాదు మహారాష్ట్రలో, కర్ణాటకలో విద్యుత్ సరఫరాకు అంతరాయం కలిగి తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమం గురిం చి తెలుసుకుంటున్నారు. తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమం తీవ్ర స్థాయికి చేరుకోవడాన్ని చూసి భరించలేని ఆంధ్ర పెత్తందారీ ఉష్ట్ర పక్షుల సంగతి ఎట్లా ఉన్నా, ఢిల్లీకి కూడా ఈ కాక తాకింద ని తాజా వార్తలను బట్టి తెలుస్తున్నది. ఇది శాంతియుతంగా తెలంగాణ ప్రజలు ఇప్పటి వరకు సాధించిన విజయం. అయితే లక్ష్యం సాధించే వరకు ఇదే పట్టుదలతో ఇంకా పోరాడవలసి ఉన్నది.
ఢిల్లీ వెళ్ళి కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీ రాష్ట్ర వ్యవహారాల ఇన్‌చార్జి ఆజాద్‌ను కలిసిన పీసీసీ నేత బొత్స సత్యనారాయణ సకల జనుల సమ్మె తీవ్రత కేంద్రానికి అర్థమైందని తెలిపారు.

తెలంగాణ ప్రజల మనోభావాలు కేంద్రానికి అర్థమైనట్టు కూడా ఆయన చెప్పారు. శాస్త్రీయంగా కసరత్తు జరుగుతున్నదని, నెలరోజుల లోపే పరిష్కారం లభించవచ్చునని అన్నా రు. ఉద్యమిస్తున్న ప్రాంతానికి మేలైన పరిష్కారం లభిస్తుందనే మాట కూడా చెప్పడం సంతోషం. కానీ తెలంగాణ జనానికి శ్రీకృష్ణ కమిటీ వేసినప్పుడు మాట్లాడిన మాటలు గుర్తుకు వచ్చి బుగులు కూడా అయితున్నది. ఇప్పుడు బొత్స చెబుతున్న మాటలు నిజ మా లేదా అబద్ధాలా అనేది కాదు. కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీ నాయకులు లేదా ఇతర పెద్దలు చెప్పే మాటలపై తెలంగాణ ప్రజలు నమ్మకం కోల్పోయారు. సాక్షాత్తూ కేంద్ర హోం మంత్రి చిదంబరం తన మాట మీద నిలబడకపోయిన తరువాత, పార్లమెంటులో చెప్పిన మాట లు చెల్లుబాటు కాకపోయిన తరువాత, ప్రజలకు ప్రభుత్వ హామీలపై, నాయకుల మాటలపై నమ్మకం ఉండదు.

కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం తెలంగాణ ప్రజలు నమ్మే విధంగా స్పష్టమైన ప్రకటన చేస్తే తప్ప ఇక్కడ సకల జనుల సమ్మె విరమణ సాధ్యం కాదు. ఒక వేళ స్పష్టమైన ప్రకటన చేస్తే సమ్మె విరమించినా, తెలంగాణ ఏర్పాటు ప్రక్రియ పూర్తయే వరకు ప్రజలు అప్రమత్తంగానే ఉంటారు. ఏ క్షణంలోనైనా ఉవ్వెత్తున ఉద్యమం మళ్లీ చెలరేగే అవకాశాలు ఉంటాయి.


తెలంగాణ సమస్యకు ‘శాశ్వత పరిష్కారం’ సాధించాలని భావిస్తున్నట్టు ఆజాద్ చెప్పారని ఆయనను కలిసిన కాంగ్రెస్ పెద్దలు అంటున్నారు. కానీ ఆంధ్ర పెట్టుబడిదారులు హైదరాబాద్‌పై మెలిక పెడుతున్నారని కూడా తెలుస్తున్నది. హైదరాబాద్ తెలంగాణలో అంతర్భాగం అయితే తప్ప శాశ్వత పరిష్కారం సాధ్యం కాదు. హైదరాబాద్ లేని తెలంగాణ ఎట్టి పరిస్థితుల్లోనూ తెలంగాణ వారికి సమ్మతం కాదు. తెలంగాణ ప్రజలు ఇంతగా ఉద్యమిస్తున్నది హైదరాబాద్ లేని తెలంగాణను తెచ్చుకోవడానికి కాదు. పైగా ఆంధ్ర దురాక్షికమణ హైదరాబాద్‌తోనే అగిపోదు. క్రమంగా విస్తరించి తెలంగాణ మొత్తం తెలంగాణ వారికి కాకుండా చేస్తుంది. ఇందుకు చరివూతలో ఉదాహరణలు ఉన్నాయి.
హైదరాబాద్‌ను కేంద్ర పాలిత ప్రాంతం చేయాలని, లేదా ఉమ్మడి రాజధాని చేయాలని వాదించడం ద్వారా కుహనా ఆంధ్ర మేధావులు, అక్కడి పెట్టుబడిదారులు ఇంత కాలం తాము చెబుతున్న ఏక జాతి సిద్ధాంతం ఎంత బలహీనమైందో రుజువు చేశారు. అంతా ఒకే జాతి అయినప్పుడు హైదరాబాద్ తెలంగాణలో భాగంగా ఉన్నా ఆందోళన పడవద్దు. తాము పరాయివారిగా మారిపోతామనే భయం పెట్టుకుంటున్నారం వారి వాదనలోని డొల్లతనం తెలిసిపోతున్నది. ఇంతకాలం పాలకులమనే భావనతో బతికిన ఆంధ్ర కుహనా మేధావులు ఇప్పుడు తెలంగాణ వారితో కలిసి సమానస్థాయిలో జీవించాలనే భావనను జీర్ణించుకోలేక పోతున్నారు. ఇక పాలనా యంత్రాంగం చేతిలో లేకపోతే తమ అక్రమ ఆస్తుల సంగతేమిటనే భయం దోపిడీదారులది.

హైదరాబాద్ తెలంగాణలో భాగంగా ఉండకుండా కేంద్రం చేతిలో ఉండాలనే స్థాయికి వీరు దిగజారారు అంటే వీరు ఇంత కాలం ప్రవచిస్తున్న ఏకజాతి సిద్ధాంతం ఏమైనట్టు? కేవలం తెలంగాణను ఆక్రమించుకుని, దోచుకోవడానికేనా ఈ సమైక్యవాద సిద్ధాంతం! పైగా తమ పనికి మాలిన వాదనకు మద్దతుగా అంబేడ్కర్ భావనలను ఉదహరించడం మరింత విడ్డూరం. ఆంధ్ర తెలంగాణ విలీనం జరిగినప్పుడు, దాదాపు అరవై ఏళ్ళుగా ఎకరాల కొద్దీ కబ్జా చేస్తున్నప్పుడు వీరికి అంబేడ్కర్ సూచనలు గుర్తుకు రాలేదా? అంబేడ్కర్ హైదరాబాద్‌ను దేశానికి రెండవ రాజధానిగా చేయాలనే సందర్భం, ప్రాతిపదిక వేరు. హైదరాబాద్‌ను తెలంగాణకు దక్కకుండా చేయాలని, ఆంధ్ర పెట్టుబడిదారుల అక్రమ ఆస్తులను రక్షించాలని ఆయన ఎప్పుడూ భావించలేదు. రాష్ట్ర విభజన సందర్భమే వేరు. ఉమ్మడి రాజధానిగా ఏర్పాటు కూడా ఆచరణ సాధ్యం కాదు. చండీగఢ్ వివాదం చూసిన తరువాత రాజధాని పొత్తును బుద్ధి, జ్ఞానం ఉన్నవావరూ ఆమోదించరు. ఆంధ్ర ప్రజానీకం కూడా తమ ప్రాంతంలో రాజధాని ఉండాలని కోరుకుంటారు తప్ప, కొద్ది మంది అక్రమ ఆస్తుల పరిరక్షణ కోసం హైదరాబాద్‌లో కార్యాలయాలు ఉండడానికి అంగీకరించరు. మద్రాసును వదులుకున్నప్పుడే సొంత రాజధానిని నిర్మించకుండా, ఆంధ్ర పెద్దమనుషులు తమ ప్రజలకు ద్రోహం చేశారు.

ఇంకా అదే ద్రోహం చేస్తామంటే ఆంధ్ర ప్రజలు సహిస్తారా? ఎట్లా కలిసినమో అట్ల విడిపోవడమే మంచిది. విలీనం తరువాత తెలంగాణ వారికి ఎంతో నష్టం జరిగింది. అదంతా లెక్కలు తీసి కక్కమని తెలంగాణ వారు అడుగుత లేరు. అందుకు సంతోషించాలె. చారివూతక వాస్తవాలను, సాంస్కృతిక అస్తిత్వా న్ని కాదని ఎటువంటి మార్పులు, చేర్పులు చేసినా సమస్య పరిష్కారం కాకపోగా మరిం త రగులుతుంది. ఆంధ్ర పెట్టుబడిదారులు ఇటువంటి మెలికలు పెట్టడం మాని వెంటనే ‘శాశ్వత పరిష్కారం’ కోసం సహకరించాలె.

Get ready for the biggest-ever Facebook shake-up!

Facebook begins rolling out its newest feature “Timeline” from today, a move that observers say will not only profoundly alter how its 800 million users interact with the site, but will keep them coming back for decades to come.
The “Timeline,” revealed last week by chief executive Mark Zuckerberg will also likely shock some users, notorious for backlashes in recent years over even small adjustments to the site, let alone a complete re-think of how their lives are presented to the world.
The changes amount to the “heart of your Facebook experience, completely rethought from the ground up,” Zuckerberg told an annual developers conference.
Rick Marini, CEO of the Facebook-focused “career network” BranchOut, which itself boasts millions of users, marveled this week in a conference call with marketers and reporters how the site had managed to build an enduring model.
“If your Timeline becomes an important part of your life — the diary of your life — Facebook may have just locked people in for the next 20 years,” Marini said Wednesday.
If Facebook is “where all of this happens, all your pictures, all your video, everything you’ve ever done,” he added: “you’re never going to leave.”

Zuckerberg said his team’s main aim was “to design a place that feels like your home,” prompting Forrester analyst Sean Corcoran to note that Facebook was “positioning itself as not just your social graph online, but your life online.”
Pete Cashmore, founder of influential tech blog Mashable, this week anticipated the expected response from users in an article for CNN.com under the blunt headline, “You’ll freak when you see the new Facebook.”
The move, Cashmore said, would be likely jarring at first for millions of people who visit the site every day.
But when they see their lives laid out before them in a neat, single page, they will realize Facebook has “unleashed something so remarkable that you didn’t even recognize it at first: A meaningful social network,” he wrote.
Observers saw a clear challenge to ubiquitous search giant Google, as 27-year-old Zuckerberg explained that the site he launched from his Harvard dormitory room in 2004 sought to be a central hub for the Internet.
The overhauled “Timeline” profile pages, as users will see as it opens up to the world Friday, with access further expanded in coming weeks, shows that the social network behemoth has saved everything that’s ever been uploaded.

China's great leap towards superpower status with space station test launch

China marked a new milestone on its road towards superpower status on Thursday night by putting its first research module – called the Heavenly Palace – into orbit.
The unmanned Tiangong 1 laboratory, launched from a remote base in the Gobi desert, is a step towards the construction of a fully-fledged orbiting platform. This latest demonstration of Beijing's otherworldly ambitions comes in a year when the US has wound down its space shuttle fleet and its partners have said the International Space Station should be buried at sea in 2020. China's 10.5-metre cylinder will ride 220 miles into space on board the Long March 2F rocket that blasted off from the Jiuquan satellite launch centre.
It will remain in orbit for two years and be used by Chinese scientists and astronauts to practise rendezvous and docking techniques needed to construct bigger space structures.

Another vessel, Shenzhou 8, will launch later this year and attempt to link up with the lab. If this is successful and life support systems within the module remain stable, manned missions will be tried next year and yuhangyuan [astronauts] will spend two weeks inside the lab. Wu Ping, a spokeswoman, said these missions could include China's first female astronauts. Following China's first manned space flight in 2003, the launch of the Heavenly Palace is the second stage in a 10-year programme to build a manned 60-tonne platform by 2020.

This could give China the largest habitable space platform. That title currently belongs to the International Space Station (ISS), which is supported by the US, Europe, Russia, Japan and Canada. The 400-tonne ISS's future is in doubt because of the high cost of ferrying supplies through space and the economic problems faced by its principal funders. China's political differences with the US have so far stymied hopes to draw the country into this international programme. When the current commitments expire in 2020, Russian scientists have proposed that the ISS be left to fall into an ocean.

China attaches great political prestige to its space programme – as evidenced by launch events in Beijing and Jiuquan attended by president Hu Jintao and key politburo members. At this stage, Beijing claims its programme is cheaper. While Russia and the US initially practised docking by sending up two vessels for each trial, China said it saves money by leaving one in space for an extended time. "The US is still ahead – they sent a man to the moon 40 years ago," said Fu Song, a professor at the school of aerospace at Tsinghua University. "But there is the advantage for latecomers. The cost is less and wrong turns can be avoided. If the Tiangong is successful, it will be a significant symbol for the Chinese space industry." Though the hardware is based primarily on Russian technology, China says it has enhanced navigation and other systems. The launch is part of a wider space strategy which has notched up several notable achievements in recent years.

In 2003, China became only the third country to independently put a man – Yang Liwei – in space. Four years later, it put a satellite – the Chang-e – into lunar orbit and, more aggressively, proved the effectiveness of a satellite-busting rocket. In 2013, it will collaborate with Russia to send a probe to Mars. Four years after that, the country's scientists expect to land a lunar rover as a step towards a manned moon landing.
The Tiangong will provide useful preparation for all future missions, according to Ping. The forward momentum of China's programme stands in contrast to that of the old space powers. The US mothballed its space shuttle programme in July, when the Atlantis completed its final mission.

Now that Barack Obama has reversed plans for a new manned lunar mission, China is the only country with realistic plans to land humans on the moon. Such developments could also add to concerns in Washington that China's space push may be driven my military motives. This is dismissed by Chinese academics. Jiao Weixin, professor in the school of earth and space at Peking University, said the spirit of space exploration now was different from the past. "During the cold war, the Soviet Union and the US competed in a space race. Today, the trend is towards peaceful, international co-operation. "China is involved for scientific reasons and to gain experience. It has no goal of surpassing other countries."

Different trajectories

After edging out the Soviets and winning the race to land a human on the moon in 1969, the United States has enjoyed more than four decades unchallenged as the world's dominant force in space. Today's(Thursday) The launch on Thursday of the first stage of a new Chinese space station could be seen as the beginnings of a shift in that power. That China has joined the US and Russia as the third nation with the capability of a permanent crewed presence in space is not, in itself, a significant challenge to American supremacy. Nasa launched its first habitable research laboratory, Skylab, in 1973, and even if China's Tiangong-1 remains safely into orbit after its arrival, it is still likely to be at least another year before its astronauts are able to make any kind of extended-duration stay.

The wider concern of those who follow the US space programme is the converse trajectories the two nations appear to be taking in support of their ambitions in space. China, which has invested millions of dollars in recent years into a burgeoning space programme, now has a flagship piece of hardware already off the launchpad. Nasa currently has no manned launch capability of its own for crewed vehicles followingafter the retirement of the space shuttle fleet this summer. It is a situation that rankles with prominent figures in the US space community, among them Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, who last week lambasted the American programme as an embarrassment"embarrassing" that could soon be eclipsed by the achievements of other nations.

"For a country that did so much for so long to achieve a leadership position in space exploration and exploitation, this is viewed by many as lamentably embarrassing and unacceptable," he told a congressional hearing on the future of space flight. "Nasa leaders enthusiastically assured the American people that the agency was embarking on a new age of discovery. But the termination of the shuttle, the cancellation of existing rocket and spacecraft programmes, the lay-off of thousands of aerospace workers [and] the outlook for American space activity through the next decade is difficult to reconcile with agency assertions."
Nasa did, earlier this month, announce its vision of a future spacecraft, the Space Launch System, which will be the most powerful rocket ever built and is designed to carry astronauts farther into space than ever before. Its cost, estimated in leaked Nasa calculations at more than $62bn over the next 15 years, could yet prove a barrier and the first unmanned test flights are not scheduled until 2017.

In the shorter term, Nasa is contracting out work that was previously its lifeblood. Cargo, and eventually crew, transportation to the international space station is being tendered to commercial enterprises such as SpaceX and Blue Origin, established respectively by internet entrepreneurs Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. SpaceX plans its first cargo transfer launch in November. Until commercial spacecraft are deemed safe enough, US astronauts must hitch rides aboard Russia's Soviet-era Soyuz spacecraft, at a cost of up to $63m per seat. But the Russian programme is embroiled in its own turmoil after an unmanned Soyuz failed on its way to the international space station last month, and the next manned mission was delayed until November. China's progress, and uncertainty elsewhere, have led to renewed calls for greater partnership between the world's space-faring nations, although US co-operation with the Chinese is specifically prohibited by an act of Congress.

"China has the technology but doesn't have the spaceflight experience that we do," said Leroy Chiao, a former ISS commander and shuttle astronaut, and advocate for closer ties. "Co-operation is the way forward. You can argue that Nasa and Russia did all this before but China started its programme in 2003 and in eight years has demonstrated more ambitious flights. It has a modern vehicle with sophisticated technology, so this isn't just a copy of Skylab. It leaves China on the verge of a major step forward."Copy ends

No newspapers for Hyderabad as hawkers join Telangana stir

The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday went without newspapers as hawkers joined the ongoing general strike for a separate Telangana state.

No newspapers could reach the readers as the hawkers stayed away from distribution of papers. English, Telugu, Urdu and Hindi newspapers were missing from bookshops and newspaper stands across the state capital.

Tension prevailed at Secunderabad Clock Tower as police stopped newspaper hawkers from taking out a bike rally to Telangana martyrs' memorial near the state assembly building.

Police also arrested Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) convenor M. Kodandaram who reached Secunderabad Clock Tower to express solidarity with the hawkers.

Police also took into custody some protestors who tried to resist their leader's arrest. "This is unjust. You are creating unnecessary problems. Allow me to address them and we will disperse," Kodandaram told police officers.

However, police officers said prohibitory orders were in force. They forcibly shifted Kodandaram to a police vehicle and took him to Bowenpally police station. A large number of Telangana supporters rushed to the station and demanded his release.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao condemned the JAC chief's arrest and demanded his immediate release. Rao warned the government against provoking Telangana people and said it would be responsible for any consequences.

Telangana: Protests intensify as strike continues

The proponents of separate Telangana state on Thursday further intensified their protests as part of the ongoing general strike that began a fortnight back.
Hawkers on Thursday stopped delivering newspapers as part of the 'Sakala Januma Samme' (strike by all sections of people) which began on September 13.
Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (JAC) Convener M Kodandaram was taken into custody in Secunderabad where he was participating in a pro-Telangana demonstration.

The Telangana supporters reached the police station were the JAC Convener was kept and raised slogans against the state government and police.
They also continued to hold rallies, sit-ins at various places elsewhere in the region.
The supporters of separate statehood also announced plans to question public representatives for not resigning in support of Telanagana though all sections of people were participating in the ongoing stir.

ఇప్పుడు మనం నెలాఖరులో ఉన్నాం. రేపో మాపో ప్రభుత్వం జీతాలను ‘సమస్య’ చేయబోతోంది. జీవితాలలో మార్పు రావాలన్న విశాల ప్రాతిపదికన రంగంలోకి దిగిన ఉద్యోగులు జీతాల గురించి ఆలోచించడం లేదు. అయినప్పటికీ వచ్చే నెలలో పండగలున్నాయి కాబట్టి జీతాలిప్పించే బాధ్యత అధికారంలో ఉన్న మంత్రులు తీసుకోవాలి. అలా జరగని పక్షంలో ఒకటో తారీఖున వాళ్ళంతా ప్రభుత్వం నుంచి బయటకు వచ్చి ఉద్యమంలో భాగస్వాములు కావాలి. ఉద్యమం ఈ విడత తెలంగాణ కాంగ్రెస్ లక్ష్యంగా కదలాలి.

మనకు ‘చీమ’ కథ చిన్నప్పటి నుంచీ తెలుసు. ‘చీమా చీమా ఎందుకు కుట్టావూ’ అని అడిగితే ‘నాబంగారు పుట్టలో వేలుపెడితే కుట్టనా’! అనే సమాధానం. చీమకంటే ముందు ఏ చిన్న పిల్లోడైనా చెప్పేస్తాడు. పాపం కిరణ్‌కుమార్ రెడ్డి మాత్రం ఆ కథను తిరగేసి చెప్పి చేతులు కాల్చుకున్నాడు. అసలాయన తన కథ మొదలుపెట్టాల్సింది ‘చేపా చేపా ఎందుకు ఎండలేద ని’. తెలంగాణ రైతులు ‘తమ పొలాలు ఎందుకు ఎండిపోతున్నాయని’ ఇంకా అడగకముందే ఆయన చీమతో ప్రారంభించి కథ చెప్పడం మొద లుపెట్టాడు. ‘సింగరేణిలో సమ్మె చేయడం వల్ల బొగ్గు పెల్ల పెగల లేదని, బొగ్గులేక పోవడం వల్ల కరెంటు ఉత్పత్తి ఆగిందని, కాబట్టి మీ పంటలు ఎండి పోవాల్సిందే’నని ఆయన ఇప్పుడు కథ చెపుతున్నాడు. అట్లా చెప్పగానే రైతులు, ప్రజలు సమ్మె చేస్తోన్న కార్మికుల మీదనో, విద్యుత్ ఉద్యోగుల మీద నో తిరగబడితే సమ్మె ఆపేస్తారని ఆ దెబ్బతో అసలు తెలంగాణే వద్దని అంటారని పాపం ఆయన ఆశపడ్డారు.

కానీ తెలంగాణ ప్రజలు ‘యువకిరణంలా’ రాజకీయ అనుభవం, అవగాహనలేని వాళ్ళు కాదు గదా. ఇప్పుడు ప్రజలు, ఉద్యమకారులు ఆయన కథల్లోని నీతిని అర్థం చేసుకున్నారు కాబట్టే చేప దగ్గరే ఆగిపోకుండా సింగరేణి కార్మికులు సమ్మె ఎందుకు చేస్తున్నారు అన్న ప్రశ్నను అడుగుతున్నారు. ఒక్క సింగరేణి కార్మికులే కాదు, యావత్ తెలం గాణ యివాళ ఎందుకు తిరగబడిందో తెలుసుకోమని కోరుతున్నారు. కానీ అడ్డదిడ్డంగా కథను తిప్పి అడిగిన వారిని అయోమయంలో పడేయాలన్నది ఆయన ప్లాన్. రెండువారాలుగా సాగుతున్న సమ్మెతో సకల జనులు ఈ ప్రభుత్వానికి ముచ్చెమటలు పట్టిస్తున్నారు. తెలంగాణ ప్రజలు పొలాలు ఎందుకు ఎండాయని మాత్రమే అడగ తెలంగాణలో ఉన్న జలాశయాలు ఇంకా నిండుగా కళకళ లాడుతూనే ఉన్నా అక్కడ కరెంటు ఎందుకు ఉత్పత్తి కావడం లేదని అడుగుతున్నారు.

కరెంటు కేవలం ఒక్క బొగ్గుతోనే ఉత్పత్తి కాదని, జలవిద్యుత్ కూడా ఉంటుందన్న సంగతి ఎప్పుడో తాతల కాలం కిందటే కనిపెట్టారు. అది కనిపెట్టిన నాడే శ్రీశైలంలో, నాగార్జున సాగర్‌లో ప్రాజెక్టులు కట్టి, నీళ్ళను నిల్వచేసి అక్కడ కరెంటు ఉత్పత్తి చేస్తున్నారు. సింగరేణి కార్మికులు సమ్మె చేసి బొగ్గు నిలిపేస్తే ఆ ప్రాజెక్టుల్లో జలవిద్యుత్ ఎందుకు ఉత్పత్తి చేయడం లేదని తెలంగాణ విద్యుత్ ఉద్యోగుల జేఏసీ నిలదీసే సరికి ఇప్పుడు ఆయన నీళ్ళు నమలాల్సి వస్తోంది. అలాగే సమైక్యాంధ్ర మిథ్యావాద సృష్టికర్త లగడపాటి రాజగోపాల్ తన ల్యాంకో కంపెనీ నుంచి రోజుకు మూడు వందల యాభై మెగావాట్ల విద్యుత్తును పొరుగు రాష్ట్రాలకు అమ్ముకుని సొమ్ముచేసుకుంటుంటే ప్రభుత్వం ఎందుకు చూస్తూ ఊరుకున్నదని కూడా వాళ్ళు అడుగుతున్నారు. తెలంగాణలో ఇప్పుడు ఎవరూ ఊకదంపుడు మాటలు మాట్లాడరు. అందులో తెలంగాణ విద్యుత్ ఉద్యోగులు మెరుపు తీగలు. వాళ్ళు కేవలం కరెంట్ మాత్రమే కాదు అవసరమైనప్పుడు షాక్ కూడా ఇవ్వగలరు.


బొగ్గు గనులు మూతపడినా కరెంటుకు కష్టం ఉండదని, ప్రత్యామ్నాయం గా జలవిద్యుత్ వాడవచ్చన్నది మన విద్యుత్ ఉద్యోగుల వాదన. మన రాష్ట్రంలోని జలాశయాల్లో ఉన్న నీటి నిల్వలతో రోజుకు అరవై అయిదు మిలియన్ల యూనిట్ల విద్యుత్ ఉత్పత్తి జరుగుతుంది. కానీ ప్రభుత్వం ఇప్పుడు కేవలం ఆ ఉత్పత్తిని ముప్ఫై మిలియన్లకే పరిమితం చేసి కృత్రిమ కొరతను సృష్టించి తెలంగాణలో రైతులకు ఇవ్వాల్సిన కరెంట్‌లో కోత విధించింది. అట్లా పొలాలను ఎండబెట్టి, పంటనష్టం చేసే పాపపు పనికి ప్రభుత్వమే ఒడిగట్టింది. అంతే కాదు జలాశయాలు నిండుగా ఉంటే సీమాంధ్రలో మూడో పంటకు వాడుకోవచ్చన్నది ఆ కుట్రలో అసలు ఎత్తుగడ. ఇవాళ తెలంగాణ లో వరిచేన్లు పొట్టకొచ్చే కాలంలో నీళ్లు అందకుండా చేయడం గర్భవూసావా న్ని మించిన దుర్మార్గం. ఈ ఎత్తుగడలో మరోకోణం, తెలంగాణ రైతుల పంట లు చంపేసి ఆంధ్రా పరిక్షిశమలను కాపాడుకోవడం.

గడిచిన పదేళ్ళలో ఎంత కరెంట్ కొరత ఉన్నా రైతులకు ఇచ్చే కనీస కరెంట్‌లో కోత విధించకూడదని, కొరత మరీ తీవ్రంగా ఉంటే ముందు గృహ అవసరాలకు, ఆ తరువాత వాణి జ్య అవసరాలకు ఇచ్చే కరెంట్‌ను క్రమబద్ధీకరించే విధానాన్ని ప్రభుత్వం పాటిస్తోంది. అది మరీ ఎక్కువైనప్పుడు పరిక్షిశమలకు ‘పవర్ హాలిడే’ ఇవ్వ డం ఈవిధానంలో భాగం. రాజశేఖర్‌రెడ్డి హయాంలోనే కాదు రైతు వ్యతిరే కి అన్న అపవూపద మూటగట్టుకున్న చంద్రబాబుపాలనలో కూడా ఈ పధ్ధతి పాటించారు. కానీ ఈసారి నేరుగా ఒక్క తెలంగాణ ప్రాంతంలోనే రైతులకు, గ్రామాలకు కరెంట్ కోత విధించడం వెనుక ప్రతీకార ధోరణితో కూడిన కుట్ర దాగి ఉన్నదని అర్థమౌతోంది. పరిక్షిశమలకు ‘పవర్ హాలీడే’ ఇస్తే ఆంధ్రా పెట్టుబడిదారులు, పారిక్షిశామిక వేత్తలు నష్టపోతారు.

కాబట్టి ఇప్పుడాయన విద్యు త్ విధానాన్ని తిరగ రాస్తున్నారు. ‘మీరు సమ్మె చేస్తున్నారు కాబట్టి మీరే నష్ట పోవాల’న్నది ఆయనిప్పుడు తెలంగాణ ప్రజలకు చెప్పాలనుకున్నారు. అయితే సీమాంవూధలో ‘క్రాప్’ హాలిడే పేరుతో సమ్మె చేస్తున్న రైతులతో ముఖ్యమంత్రి చర్చపూందుకు జరిపారు. నిజానికి తెలంగాణ రైతులు సీమాంవూధలో మాదిరిగా పొలాలను రొయ్యల చెరువులో, చేపల చెరువులో చేసుకుని సొమ్ము చేసుకుంటూ, పంటలు పండించకుండా ప్రభుత్వానికి ధాన్యం కొరత సృష్టిస్తామని బెదిరించలేదు. అలా బెదిరించిన కోస్తా రైతుల కోసం ఒక ఉన్నతస్థాయి కమిటీ వేసి వారంలో నివేదిక తెప్పించుకున్న ప్రభుత్వం ఇప్పుడు వాళ్లకు పరిహారం, ప్యాకేజీలు ప్రకటించడానికి సిద్ధపడుతూ.. తెలంగాణ రైతుల మీద కత్తి గట్టడానికి కారణాలను అడగాల్సి ఉంది.


నిజంగానే ముఖ్యమంత్రికే ఏడు చేపల కథలో చీమ చెప్పిన తార్కికత, తాత్వికత అర్థమైనట్టు లేదు. సీమాంధ్ర పాలకులు ఇలా కుయుక్తులతో తెలంగాణ బంగారు పుట్టలో వేలు పెట్టి కకావికలం చేసినందువల్లనే గత అర్ధ శతా బ్ద కాలంగా చీమలు తిరగబడుతూ చస్తూ వస్తున్నాయి. ఇవాళ చలి చీమలు దండు కట్టి తిరుగుబాటు చేస్తున్నాయి. అందుకే సకల జనుల సమ్మెను చూసి న ఎవరికైనా అది ఎంతటి సాహసోపేతమైన తిరుగుబాటో అర్థమౌతుంది. క్షురకులు, రజకులు మొదలు ఉన్నతాధికారులు, ఉద్యోగులు, అన్ని వర్గాల వారు కదులుతున్నారు. అటువంటప్పుడు మూలాలలోకి వెళ్ళకుండా కేవ లం ‘చేపా చేపా ఎందుకు ఎండలేద’ని అడిగి ఆగిపోతే కథ అక్కడితో ముగిసి పోతుందనుకుంటే అంతకుమించిన అతితెలివి ఇంకేముంటుంది? ముఖ్య మంత్రి చూడడానికి అమాయకుడిలాగే కనిపిస్తారు. ఎలాంటి భావోద్వేగాలు లేని చిరునవ్వు పులుముకుని వచ్చీరాని తెలుగులో తడబడుతూ మాట్లాడే అతన్ని నిజంగానే అమాయకుడనుకుంటే పొరపాటే.

అతని కవళికలు, కదలికలే కాదు మాటలో తత్తరపాటు గమనించిన వారికి అతని మనసుకూ మాటకు పొంతన లేదన్నది తెలిసిపోతుంది. రాష్ట్ర ముఖ్యమంవూతిగా సకల జనుల సమ్మె ప్రారంభమై తెలంగాణ సమరోధృతి పెరిగిన తరువాత ఆయన పత్రికల వారితో తను చెప్పదలుచుకున్నది చెప్పేశారు. విలేకరులు ప్రశ్నలు అడగొద్దని హుకుం జారీ చేశారు. ఎప్పుడైనా, ఎవరితోనైనా సంభాషణ మొదలుపెడితే చాలా ప్రశ్నలు అడుగుతారు, వాటన్నిటికీ సమాధానాలు చెప్పాల్సి ఉంటుంది. అలా చెపితే అసలు రంగు బయటపడుతుంది కాబట్టి అతి తెలివి గలవాళ్ళు అలా ప్రశ్నలు అడగడాన్నే అడ్డుకుంటారు. ముఖ్యమంత్రి కూడా అదే చేశారు. కానీ పత్రికల వారితో చెప్పిన విషయాల్లోనే ఆయన తానేమిటో, తన కార్యాచరణ ఏమిటో స్పష్టపరిచారు. సింగరేణి కార్మికుల సమ్మె వల్ల కరెంట్ ఉత్పత్తి ఆగిపోతుందని, దీనితో మీ ప్రాంత రైతుల పంటలే ఎండిపోతాయని, విద్యాసంస్థల బంద్ వల్ల మీ పిల్లలే నష్టపోతారని, పరీక్షలు అడ్డుకుంటే మీ పిల్లలకే ఉద్యోగాలు రావని చెప్పారు. ఒక రాష్ట్ర ముఖ్యమంత్రి ‘మా’’ మీ’ అన్న మాటలు మాట్లాడడమే విభజించి పాలించే ఆలోచనకు నిదర్శనం.

కిరణ్‌కుమార్ రెడ్డి ఇవాళ తాను సీమాంధ్ర సీఎంను అనుకుంటున్నాడు. అసలు ఆయన ముఖ్యమంవూతిగా ఉన్నాడంటే అది తెలంగాణ ప్రజల చలవ. తెలంగాణ నుంచి ప్రజలు గెలిపించిన 53 మంది శాసన సభ్యుల మద్ద తు వల్లే ఆయన ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా కొనసాగుతున్నారు. ఇప్పటికీ వాళ్ళంతా గెలిపించిన ప్రజలకంటే కిరణ్‌కుమార్ రెడ్డికే విధేయులుగా వుంటున్నారు. అదే సీమాంధ్ర నుంచి కాంగ్రెస్ టికెట్ మీద గెలిచిన 102 మందిలో ఇప్పటికే సగం మంది జగన్‌కు ప్రత్యక్షంగానో పరోక్షంగానో జెండా ఎత్తేశారు. అలాంటి వ్యక్తి ‘మీరు, మేము’ అని మాట్లాడడం అతన్ని నిలబెడుతున్న శాస నసభ్యుల్నే కాదు, వాళ్ళను గెలిపించిన ప్రజలందరినీ అవమానించినట్టే లెక్క.


అవమానం అని కేవలం మాటవరసకు అన్నది కాదు. ఆయన ఆ పనిని ప్రత్యక్షంగా చేస్తున్నాడు. తెలంగాణ సమ్మె విషయంలో తప్పుడు నివేదికలు ఎందుకు పంపిస్తున్నావని అడిగినందుకు పొన్నం ప్రభాకర్‌ను ‘బుద్ధి లేకుం డా ఏం మాట్లాడుతున్నావ్’ అని గదమాయించాడు. ప్రభాకర్‌ను గతంలో కూడా ఒక సభలో జై తెలంగాణ అని నినదించినందుకు ‘ఒక్కసారి గెలిస్తే హీరో అయిపోయినట్టా’ అని కూడా అవమానించాడని విన్నాం. నిజమే ఒక్కసారి గెలిచినా ప్రజలతో ఉన్నాడు కాబట్టి ఇక్కడి ప్రజలకు ప్రభాకర్ హీరోనే. పొన్నం ప్రభాకర్‌కు పదవి దొడ్డి దారిలోనో, వారసత్వంగానో రాలేదు. అత ను కిరణ్ రెడ్డిలా దశాబ్దాల పాటు రాజ్యం ఏలిన రాజకీయ నాయకుడి కొడు కో, శ్రీధర్‌బాబులా స్పీకర్ కొడుకో కాదు. వాళ్ళ తల్లిదంవూడులు సాదా సీదా కల్లుగీత కార్మికులు. అతని ఎదుగుదల వెనుక ఇరవై ఐదేళ్ళ పోరాటం, శ్రమా ఉన్నాయి. సమస్యలు అనుభవించి సమాజం అట్టడుగు వర్గాల నుంచి వచ్చి న వాళ్ళే తెలంగాణ కాంగ్రెస్ ఎంపీలలో ఎక్కువమంది ఉన్నందువల్లే ఇప్పు డు పార్లమెంటులో అడపాదడపా తెలంగాణవాదం వినిపిస్తోంది.

అతనొక పార్లమెంటు సభ్యుడని కూడా చూడకుండా అవహేళన చేయడం దొరతనం అయితే అవ్వొచ్చేమో కానీ రాజనీతి కాదు. అలాగే తెలంగాణ మీద ఎన్నడూ బహిరంగంగా నోరు మెదపకుండా, అతని సొంత నియోజక వర్గం యువకుడు యాదిడ్డి ఆయన ఉండే ఢిల్లీ వాకిట్లో ఆత్మార్పణం చేసుకున్నా చలించని వ్యక్తి జైపాల్ రెడ్డి. పాపం గుట్టు చప్పుడు కాకుండా తన పదవిని కాపాడుకుంటున్న సీనియర్ కేంద్ర మంత్రి అతను! అలాంటి వ్యక్తిని కూడా అదనపు గ్యాస్ అడిగితే ఆదుకోలేదని నిందించడం, తెలంగాణ ఎంపీలు అతన్ని అడ్డుకున్నారని ఆడిపోసుకోవడం ఎంతవరకు సమంజసం? కిరణ్‌కుమార్ రెడ్డి కేవలం మాటలతోనే కాదు చేతలతో అంతకంటే ఎక్కువగా తెలంగాణ వాదాన్ని తిప్పికొట్టే పేరుతో ఈ ప్రాంతానికి అన్యాయం చేస్తున్నాడు. ఈ పరి స్థితుల్లో ముఖ్యమంత్రిగా ఆయన కొన్ని ప్రయత్నాలు చేసి ఉండాల్సింది. తెలంగాణ ప్రాంత మంత్రులతో సమస్యను చర్చించాల్సింది.

ఈ ప్రాంత ప్రజలను అంతో ఇంతో నమ్మించ గలుగుతున్న పార్లమెంటు సభ్యుల సహకారం కోరాల్సింది. కనీసం అఖిల పక్షాన్ని పిలిచి పరిస్థితులు చర్చించి, సమస్య పరిష్కరించాలని కేంద్రానికొక లేఖ నైనా రాసి ఉండాల్సింది. లేదా సమ్మెకు ముందస్తుగానే నోటీసు ఇచ్చిన వారిని పిలిపించి మాట్లాడాల్సింది. పరిష్కారం తన చేతుల్లో లేదని, ఢిల్లీ స్పందించడం లేదని, అన్ని రాజకీయ పార్టీ ల ప్రతినిధులతో ఢిల్లీ వెళ్లి అక్కడి ప్రభుత్వం మీద ఒత్తిడి తెస్తానని చెప్పి గడువు అడగాల్సింది. ఇవన్నీ ప్రజాస్వామిక పద్ధతులు. ఇవి వదిలేసి ఆయన తెలంగాణతో అమీ తుమీ తెల్చుకోవాలన్నంత కసితో వ్యవహరిస్త్తున్నాడని కాంగ్రెస్ నేతలే చెపుతున్నారు. ఆయన ‘ఎవ్వరి మాటా వినాల్సిన పనిలేద’న్న ధోరణితో ఒక నియంతలా వ్యవహరిస్తున్నాడని వారు వాపోతున్నారు.

అదే నిజమైతే నియంతలు ఎంత బలవంతులైనా ప్రజాస్వామ్యంలో ఎక్కువకాలం నిలబడలేరన్నది సత్యం. సమస్యను సామరస్యంగా పరిష్కరించే మా ర్గాలు వెతకకపోగా సమ్మెను తుపాకి గొట్టం ద్వారా అణచివేయడానికి అదనపు బలగాలు ఇవ్వాలని కోరాడు. ఇప్పుడు సమ్మె చేస్తోన్న ఉద్యోగులపైకి పోలీసులనే కాదు, ప్రజలను కూడా ఉసిగొల్పాలన్నది అయన ప్రణాళికని అర్థమౌతోంది. అందుకే ఆయన తెలంగాణ రైతులకు ఇవ్వాల్సిన కరెంటు ఆపేశారు. ‘బొగ్గు లేదు కాబట్టి కరెంటు తయారు కాలేద’ని ఆయనిప్పుడు తెలంగాణ రైతులకు కాకమ్మ కబుర్లు చెపుతున్నారు. ముఖ్యమంత్రి సమస్య ను పరిష్కరించే ప్రయత్నం చేయకపోగా ఈ ప్రాంతంలో అంతర్యుద్ధం సృష్టించి సమ్మె చేస్తోన్న సకల జనులను అణచివేయాలన్న కుట్ర చేస్తున్నట్టు కనిపిస్తోందని జేఏసీ అంటోంది.

సొంత మంత్రుల విజ్ఞప్తులను, పార్టీ తెలంగాణ పెద్దల సూచనలను పెడచెవిన పెట్టి ఆయన ఎపీపీఎస్‌సి పరీక్షలు నడిపిస్తున్నాడు. రవాణా స్తంభించి దాదాపు సగం మంది పరీక్షలు రాయలేకపోయారు. ఇది నిరుద్యోగుల మీద కక్ష సాధింపు కాక ఏమౌతుంది? ఆంధ్రాలో సమ్మెలేదు, అక్కడ అంతా ప్రశాంతంగా పరీక్షలు రాస్తుంటే ఇక్కడి విద్యార్థులు నష్టపోతారు. అలా నష్టపోయిన వాళ్ళో, లేక దాన్ని వాడుకుని రాజకీయంగా ఎదగాలని, కేంద్రంలో చిన్నచితకా పదవిని పొందాలని ఆశ పడుతున్న వాళ్ళో సమ్మె మీద విరుచుకు పడాలన్నది ప్యూహమైతే అయివుండవచ్చు. కానీ అది ప్రభుత్వమే చేస్తే అంతకుమించిన ప్రజావూదోహం ఇంకొకటి ఉండదు.

తెలంగాణ డిమాండు రాజ్యాంగబద్ధమైన హక్కు మాత్రమే కాదు, న్యాయబద్ధమైన ఆకాంక్ష. పైగా అది ఈ ప్రభుత్వం ఇచ్చిన హామీ కూడా. అటువంటి సమస్యను పరిష్కరించకపోగా, ఆ బాధ్యతను గుర్తు చేస్తో న్న వారిని భయభ్రాంతులకు గురిచేయడం, వారిని శత్రువులుగా ఎంచి ప్రతీకార చర్యలకు పూనుకోవడం ప్రజాస్వామ్యంలో దుస్సాహసం. ఇప్పుడాయన దూకుడుతోనే పాలన మీద పట్టు తెచ్చుకోవాలని చూస్తున్నాడు. అసలైతే ఉద్యమకారులు దూకుడుతో ఉంటారు. కానీ అందు కు భిన్నంగా ఉద్యమ కారులు పరిమితికి మించిన సహనాన్ని ప్రదర్శిస్తున్నా రు. తెలంగాణ పౌరులు ఉద్యమంలో ఎంత పరిణతిని ప్రదర్శిస్తున్నారంటే ప్రజలంతా రైల్‌రోకోను కొనసాగించాలని పట్టుబట్టినా చెప్పిన మాట ప్రకారం గంటకొట్టినంత టంచనుగా పట్టాల మీదినుంచి లేచారు.

జేఏసీ తాము ఇంకా గాంధీ గిరికే కట్టుబడి ఉన్నామని అంటోంది. ఇప్పుడు మనల్ని పాలిస్తోన్న వాళ్లకు గాంధీ మీదే నమ్మకం లేదు. వాళ్ళు ‘గాంధీగిరి’ని గౌరవిస్తారని నేననుకోను. అలా ఉండి ఉంటే, ‘సమ్మె లేనేలేద’ని ఢిల్లీలో కూర్చున్న కొంగ్రెస్ పెద్దలు దబాయించే అవకాశం లేదు. వాళ్లకు సెగ తగలాలంటే ఉద్యమం ఇంకో దశకు చేరాలి. ఇప్పుడు మనం నెలాఖరులో ఉన్నాం. రేపో మాపో ప్రభుత్వం జీతాలను ‘సమస్య’ చేయబోతోంది. జీవితాలలో మార్పు రావాలన్న విశాల ప్రాతిపదికన రంగంలోకి దిగిన ఉద్యోగులు జీతాల గురించి ఆలోచించడం లేదు. అయినప్పటికీ వచ్చే నెలలో పండగలున్నాయి కాబట్టి జీతాలిప్పించే బాధ్యత అధికారంలో ఉన్న మంత్రులు తీసుకోవాలి. అలా జరగని పక్షంలో ఒకటో తారీఖున వాళ్ళంతా ప్రభుత్వం నుంచి బయటకు వచ్చి ఉద్యమంలో భాగస్వాములు కావాలి.

ఉద్యమం ఈ విడత తెలంగాణ కాంగ్రె స్ లక్ష్యంగా కదలాలి. కూలిపోతున్నామన్నబలమైన సంకేతం అందితే తప్ప కుర్చీల మీద ఉన్నవాళ్ళు కదిలే పరిస్థితి కనిపించడం లేదు. వాళ్ళను కదిలించ గలిగే కొత్త ఆయుధం ఒకటి ఇప్పుడు కావాలి.

మానుకోటలో వినూత్న నిరసన... స్వచ్ఛందంగా కరెంట్ బంద్

మహబూబాబాద్: సకలజనుల సమ్మెకు సంఘీభావంగా ప్రతి కుటుంబం భాగస్వామ్యం కావాలంటూ సీపీఐ ఇచ్చిన పిలుపులో భాగంగా బుధవారం రాత్రి వరంగల్ జిల్లా మహబూబాబాద్‌లో గంటపాటు స్వచ్ఛంద బిజిలీ (కరెంట్) బంద్ చేపట్టారు. ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ స్వచ్ఛందంగా కరెంటు నిలిపివేసి ఇంటిముందు దీపాలు, కొవ్వొత్తులు వెలిగించారు. అనంతరం సీపీఐ ఆధ్వర్యంలో వీరభవన్‌నుంచి బస్టాండ్ వరకు కొవ్వొత్తులు, కాగడాలతో ర్యాలీ నిర్వహించారు. కార్యక్రమంలో న్యూడెమోక్రసీ, బీజేపీ, టీఆర్‌ఎస్‌తోపాటు టీటీజేఏసీ, ఆర్టీసీ, న్యాయవాద, కుల, అధ్యాపక జేఏసీలు, తెలంగాణ జర్నలిస్టుల ఫోరం, ఎలక్ట్రానిక్‌మీడియా అసోసియేషన్ పాల్గొన్నాయి.

న్యూఢిల్లీ, సెప్టెంబర్ 28 (టీ న్యూస్):రాష్ట్ర కాంగ్రెస్ వ్యవహారాల ఇన్‌చార్జి గులాం నబీ ఆజాద్ తెలంగాణ ప్రాంత కాంగ్రెస్ నేతలు చెప్పింది విన్నారు. నేతలు తమ బాధలు ఆయనకు చెప్పుకున్నారు. రెండు రోజుల్లో సోనియా, ప్రధానిలకు నివేదిక ఇస్తానని ఆజాద్ స్పష్టం చేశారే తప్ప తెలంగాణపై స్పష్టమైన హమీ, భరోసా ఏదీ ఇవ్వలేదు. త్వరలోనే ఒక నిర్ణయం అన్నారు తప్ప ఆ నిర్ణయం ఎలా ఉండబోతుందో సూచనవూపాయంగా కూడా సంకేతాలు ఇవ్వలేదు. తెలంగాణపై ఈనెల 30 లోగా తాడో పేడో తేల్చుకునేందుకు ఢిల్లీ వెళ్ళిన తెలంగాణ కాంగ్రెస్ ఎంపీలు, ఎమ్మెల్యేలు, మంత్రులు, మాజీలు బుధవారం రాత్రి గులాం నబీ ఆజాద్‌తో సుమారు మూడు గంటల పాటు చర్చలు జరిపారు. తెలంగాణ కాంగ్రెస్ స్టీరింగ్ కమిటీ నేతలు డాక్టర్ కే కేశవరావు, కే జానాడ్డి నేతృత్వంలో ప్రజావూపతినిధుల బృందం ప్రత్యేక రాష్ట్రం ఇవ్వాల్సిన ఆవశ్యకతను ఆజాద్‌కు నొక్కి చెప్పింది.

తెలంగాణలో ప్రస్తుతం నెలకొన్న పరిస్థితులు, జరుగుతున్న సకలజనుల సమ్మె, ఆందోళనలు, బంద్‌లు, ప్రజలకు కలుగుతున్న అసౌకర్యాలను ఆయనకు విన్నవించింది. ఇందుకు సంబంధించిన కొన్ని ఫోటోలు, మీడియా క్లిప్పింగ్‌లను అందజేసింది. తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రం ఏర్పాటు విషయంలో ఇప్పటికే ఆలస్యం జరిగిందని, ఇంకా ఆలస్యం చేయొద్దని, ఇదే తీరు కొనసాగిస్తే తెలంగాణలో కాంగ్రెస్ నామరూపాలు లేకుండా తుడిచిపెట్టుకు పోతుందని కొందరు నేతలు ఆజాద్‌కు విన్నవించారు. ‘ఇప్పటికే తెలంగాణ విషయంలో ఏదో సాకులు చెబుతూ దాటవేత ధోరణి అవలంభించారు. ప్రజలను నమ్మిస్తూ వచ్చారు. గత రెండు నెలలుగా తాము కూడా పార్టీ అధినేత్రి సోనియా ఆరోగ్య పరిస్థితులను ప్రజలకు వివరిస్తూ తమ పై ఒత్తిడి పెరుగుతున్నా భరిస్తూ వచ్చాం. ప్రస్తుతం తెలంగాణలో మేం తిరగలేని పరిస్థితులు ఉన్నాయి. జనం అధికార పార్టీ నేతలనే అడ్డుకుంటున్నారు. ఘెరావ్‌లు, దాడులకు పాల్పడుతున్నారు. తెలంగాణలోని అన్ని జిల్లాల్లో ఉద్యమం మహోధృతంగా మారింది.

మా పరిస్థితులను అర్ధం చేసుకుని త్వరగా తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర ప్రకటన చేయాలి’ అని మరి కొందరు నేతలు ఈ సమావేశంలో ఆజాద్‌ను కోరారు. ఉద్యమం వత్తిళ్లకు తట్టుకోలేక పార్టీకి పట్టున్న ప్రాంతాల్లోనూ వేలాది మంది కాంగ్రెస్ కార్యకర్తలు పార్టీని వీడి టీఆర్‌ఎస్‌లో చేరుతున్నారని వారు వివరించారు. ఎమ్మెల్యేలు, ఎంపీలు, మంత్రులపై ఉద్యమకారులు భౌతిక దాడులకు కూడా వెనుకాడటం లేదని చెప్పారు. ఉద్యోగ సంఘాల నేత స్వామిగౌడ్‌పై పోలీసులు పాశవికంగా దాడిచేసిన విషయాన్ని ప్రస్తావించి, ముఖ్యమంవూతిపై తీవ్ర విమర్శలు చేశారు. నాయకులు చెప్పినదంతా ఆజాద్ సావధానంగా, సానుకూలంగా విన్నారు, రాసుకున్నారు. తెలంగాణలోని పరిస్థితులను తాను అర్ధం చేసుకున్నానని ఆయన అన్నారు. రెండు రోజుల్లో ప్రధాని మన్మోహన్‌సింగ్, పార్టీ అధినేత్రి సోనియాకు ఒక నివేదిక సమర్పిస్తాను. సాధ్యమైనంత త్వరగా తెలంగాణపై ఒక నిర్ణయం ఉంటుంది అని ఆజాద్ నేతలకు భరోసా ఇచ్చారు. ఈ నిర్ణయం అనేది తెలంగాణకు అనుకూలమా, వ్యతిరేకమా అనేది మాత్రం ఆయన స్పష్టం చేయలేదని ఈ సమావేశంలో పాల్గొన్న ఎంపీ ఒకరు చెప్పారు.

ఆజాద్‌తో చర్చలు పూర్తయినప్పటికీ తెలంగాణపై ప్రకటన వచ్చే వరకు తాము ఢిల్లీ వదిలి వెళ్ళేది లేదని కాంగ్రెస్ నేతలు ఈ భేటి అనంతరం స్పష్టం చేశారు. ఆజాద్ రెండు రోజుల్లో ప్రధాని, సోనియాలకు నివేదిక సమర్పిస్తానని ప్రకటించడంతో ఈ లోగా హైకమాండ్‌లోని మిగతా కీలక నేతలను కలిసి తెలంగాణపై ఒత్తిడి తేవాలని ఆ పార్టీ నేతలు నిర్ణయించుకున్నారు.

నిర్ణయాలకు కట్టుబడతా: జైపాల్
బుధవారం మధ్యాహ్నం ఎంపీ వీహెచ్ ఇంట్లో సమావే మైన తెలంగాణ కాంగ్రెస్ స్టీరింగ్ కమిటీ భేటీకి కేంద్ర మంత్రి జైపాల్ రెడ్డి హాజరయ్యారు. ఆజాద్‌తో చర్చించాల్సిన అంశాలపైనే ప్రధానంగా చర్చించారు. అధిష్ఠానం అనుకున్న గడువులోపు తెలంగాణపై సానుకూల ప్రకటన చేయని పక్షంలో ఏం చేద్దామన్న దానిపై తర్జనభర్జనలు జరిగినా ఎలాంటి నిర్ణయం మాత్రం తీసుకోలేదు. పార్టీకి, పదవికి రాజీనామా చేయాలన్న ప్రతిపాదన వచ్చినా మంత్రులు వ్యతిరేకించడంతో, ఆజాద్ సమావేశం తర్వాత ఆయన స్పందనపై ఆధారపడి మరోసారి చర్చిద్దామని తీర్మానించారు. అయితే జైపాల్ రెడ్డి మాత్రం తెలంగాణకు సానుకూల ప్రకటన రాని పక్షంలో స్టీరింగ్ కమిటీ నిర్ణయించే భవిష్యత్తు కార్యచరణకు కట్టుబడి ఉంటానని హమీ ఇచ్చినట్లు తెలిసింది.

జాతీయ మానవ హక్కుల కమిషనుకు ఫిర్యాదు
ఉద్యోగ సంఘ నాయకుడు స్వామిగౌడ్‌పై పోలీసులు జరిపిన పాశవిక దాడిపై జాతీయ మానవ హక్కుల కమీషనుకు తెలంగాణ కాంగ్రెస్ నేతలు ఫిర్యాదు చేయనున్నారు. ఆ మేరకు ఇప్పటికే ఎంపీ కేకే సిద్ధం చేసిన లేఖను గురువారం హక్కుల కమీషన్ చైర్మన్‌కు అందజేయనున్నారు. ఈ దా పై సత్వరమే విచారణ చేపట్టి బాధ్యులైన అధికారులు, ప్రభుత్వ పెద్దలపై కఠిన చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని డిమాండ్ చేయనున్నారు. అంతకు ముందు ఎంపీ పొన్నం ప్రభాకర్ ఇంట్లో జరిగిన విలేకరుల సమావేశంలో స్వామి గౌడ్‌పై జరిగిన దాడిని ఎంపీలంగా ముక్త కంఠంతో ఖండించారు. ఉద్యమ నేతపై ప్రభుత్వ మద్దతుతో పోలీసులు దాడి చేయడం సిగ్గు చేటని పోన్నం మండిపడ్డారు.

ప్రభుత్వం ఆదేశించినంత మాత్రాన పోలీసులు విచక్షణ కోల్పోవద్దని హితవు పలికారు. తెలంగాణలోని ఉద్యమ పరిస్థితిని పట్టించుకోకుండా సమ్మెను అణచివేయాలని అధికారంలో ఉన్న వారు ప్రయత్నిస్తుంటే, ప్రతిపక్ష నాయకుడు క్రాప్ హలీడే అని తప్పించుకుని తిరుగుతున్నాడని దుయ్యబట్టారు. ముఖ్యమంత్రి, ప్రతిపక్షనాయకుడు తెలంగాణను అడ్డుకోవడానికి కలిసికట్టుగా కుట్రలు పన్నుతున్నారని ధ్వజమెత్తారు. రాష్ట్రంలోని అన్ని పార్టీలు సీమాంధ్ర పార్టీలే కనుక తెలంగాణ ప్రజలను రెండో శ్రేణిగా భావిస్తున్నారని ఆవేదన వ్యక్తం చేశారు.

ఎట్టకేలకు రాజీనామా చేసిన 32 టీ టీడీపీ నేతులు

పార్టీ అధినేత ఆదేశాలతో రాజీనామాల విషయంలో వెనక్కి తగ్గిన టీ టీడీపీ నేతలు చివరకు తమ రాజీనామాలు అసెంబ్లీ కార్యదర్శికి సమర్పించారు. రాజీనామాపై వెనక్కి తగ్గారన్న వార్తలు మీడియాలో రావటమో లేదా ఇంకేదైనా ఆలోచనో... మొత్తం మీద స్పీకర్ ఫార్మాట్‌లోనే వారు రాజీనామాలు సమర్పించారు. ఇవాళ ఉదయం నుంచి ఈ విషయంలో టీ ఫొరం నేతలు పెద్ద హైడ్రామానే నడిపారు.

అనంతపురం, కర్నూలు జిల్లాలతో కూడిన తెలంగాణను ఇవ్వడానికి కేంద్రం సుముఖం

తెలంగాణ ఇవ్వడానికి కేంద్రం సిద్ధంగా ఉందని టీఆర్‌ఎస్ అధినేత కేసీఆర్ అన్నట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. అనంతపురం, కర్నూలు జిల్లాలతో కూడిన తెలంగాణను ఇవ్వడానికి కేంద్రం సుముఖంగా ఉన్నట్లు విలేకరులతో కేసీఆర్ అన్నారు. అయితే హైదరాబాద్ లేని తెలంగాణకు ఒప్పుకునేది లేదని కేసీఆర్ స్ఫష్టం చేసినట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. ఎంఐఎం నేత అసదుద్దీన్ కూడా హైదరాబాద్‌తో కూడిన తెలంగాణ కావాలని నిన్న తనతో చెప్పినట్లు కేసీఆర్ అన్నట్లు వార్తలొస్తున్నాయి. ప్రత్యేక రాష్ట్రం ఇచ్చే ముందు కేంద్రం తనతో ఖచ్చితంగా చర్చిస్తుందని కూడా ఛానల్స్‌లో ప్రసారం అవుతోంది. కాగా... ఈ వార్తలను టీఆర్‌ఎస్ వర్గాలు ధృవీకరించడం లేదు. ఒక వేళ కేసీఆర్ ఈ విషయాన్ని చెప్పి ఉంటే పార్టీ నేతలు, విద్యార్థులు, మేథావులు, ఉద్యోగులు అందరితో చర్చించుకుని నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంటామని కానీ కేంద్రం చెప్పగానే ఒప్పుకోమని టీఆర్‌ఎస్ నేత నాయిని నరసింహారెడ్డి అన్నారు.

ప్రశాంతంగా సాగుతున్న ప్రత్యేక రాష్ట్ర ఉద్యమంలో, జగడపాటిగా పేరుమోసిన లగడపాటి రాజగోపాల్ చిచ్చుపెట్టారు. సకల జనుల సమ్మె చరివూతాత్మకంగాసాగుతున్న నేపథ్యంలో అశాంతిని రేపారు. ఈ కుట్రలు కుతంవూతాలపై తెలంగాణ భగ్గుమంది. ఆర్టీఏ కార్యాలయంలో సోమవారం నాటి స్వల్ప ఉద్రిక్తతను సాకుగా చేసుకుని.. రాజధానిలో వాలిపోయిన లగడపాటి.. ఆర్టీఏ కార్యాలయంలో సీమాంధ్ర ఉద్యోగులను ఓదార్చుతున్నట్లు సీన్ క్రియేట్ చేశారు. తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమాన్ని కించపరిచారు. ఆగ్రహించిన తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమకారులు ఆర్టీఏ కార్యాలయానికి రాగా.. అక్కడ పోలీసులు తమ వంతు పాత్ర పోషించారు. నేతలను బలవంతంగా అరెస్టు చేసి, ఈడ్చేశారు. ఖాకీల ధాటికి టీఆర్‌ఎస్ ఎమ్మెల్యే హరీశ్‌రావు సొమ్మసిల్లిపోయారు. ఉద్యోగ సంఘాల జేఏసీ చైర్మన్ కే స్వామిగౌడ్‌పై దాదాపు హత్యాయత్నం అన్నంత స్థాయిలో పోలీసులు దాడి చేశారు.

స్వామిగౌడ్‌ను పొత్తి కడుపులో, ఛాతీపై, మర్మావయవాలపై విచక్షణారహితంగా కొట్టారు. తీవ్రంగా గాయపడిన స్వామిగౌడ్ ప్రస్తుతం కేర్ ఆస్పవూతిలో చికిత్స పొందుతున్నారు. తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమకారులు ఆర్టీఏ కార్యాలయానికి రాకముందే అరెస్టయిన లగడపాటి... జూబ్లీహిల్స్ పోలీస్ స్టేషన్‌లో హల్‌చల్ చేశారు. పోలీస్ స్టేషన్ తన అత్తవారిల్లయినట్లు అతిథి మర్యాదలు పొంది.. తెలంగాణపై నోరుపారేసుకున్నారు. లగడపాటి రాకను నిరసిస్తూ పోలీస్ స్టేషన్ వద్ద తెలంగాణ ఉద్యమకారులు, టీఆర్‌ఎస్ కార్యకర్తలు ఆందోళనకు దిగారు. ఈ సమయంలో స్టేషన్ వద్ద రెండు గంటల పాటు తీవ్ర ఉద్రిక్తత నెలకొంది. ప్రశాంతంగా సాగుతున్న ఉద్యమంపై పెట్రోల్ చల్లి రెచ్చగొ వచ్చిన వ్యక్తికి రాచమర్యాదలేంటని ఆందోళనకారులు పోలీసులను నిలదీశారు. పోలీసులకు వ్యతిరేకంగా కూడా నినాదాలు చేశారు. పరిస్థితి కాస్త సద్దుమణిగిన తర్వాత పోలీసులు లగడపాటిని పంపించేసేందుకు ప్రయత్నించినా ఆయన భీష్మించుకుని కూర్చున్నారు. బలవంతంగా బయటకు తీసుకువచ్చి కారులో కూర్చొనబెట్టినా.. ఆయన పంతం వీడలేదు.

దీంతో పోలీసులు వాహనాలు తరలించే క్రేన్ సహాయం తీసుకుని, లగడపాటిని కారుతో సహా ఆయన ఇంటికి చేర్చాల్సి వచ్చింది. మరోవైపు ఖాకీల దాష్టీకాలు మంగళవారం కూడా కొనసాగాయి. సకల జనుల సమ్మెను విచ్ఛిన్నం చేసేందుకు పోలీసుల పహారాలో ఉద్యోగులను బస్సుల్లో తరలిస్తుండగా తెలంగాణవాదులు హైదరాబాద్ వనస్థలిపురం వద్ద అడ్డుకున్నారు. ఈ బస్సుల్లో సచివాలయానికి ఉద్యోగులను తరలించేందుకు పోలీసులు ప్రయత్నించారు. తమ ప్రయత్నాన్ని ఉద్యమకారులు అడ్డుకోవడంతో వారిపై విచక్షణారహితంగా లాఠీచార్జి చేశారు. ఇదిలా ఉండగా రాజకీయ జేఏసీ పిలుపు మేరకు తెలంగాణవ్యాప్తంగా ఆర్టీసీ కార్మికుల ర్యాలీలు మోతమోగించాయి. వరుసగా 8వ రోజు ఆర్టీసీ సమ్మె కొనసాగింది. ఉద్యోగుల ర్యాలీలను పోలీసులు ఎక్కడిక్కడ అడ్డుకునే ప్రయత్నం చేశారు. హైదరాబాద్‌లో జరిగిన బస్‌భవన్ ముట్టడిలో ఆర్టీసీ జేఏసీ చైర్మన్ ఆనందం సహా ముఖ్యనేతలంతా అరెస్టయ్యారు. ఈ ముట్టడికి కోదండరాం, విద్యాసాగర్‌రావు తదితర ముఖ్యనేతలు హాజరయ్యారు.

మరోవైపు సకల జనుల సమ్మె మంగళవారంతో పక్షం రోజులు పూర్తి చేసుకుంది. తెలంగాణ టెంపుల్స్ అసోసియేషన్ పిలుపు మేరకు తెలంగాణ ప్రాంతంలోని దేవాలయాల్లో ఆర్జిత సేవలు నిలిచిపోయాయి. నిజామాబాద్‌లో ఆందోళనకారులపై పోలీసులు లాఠీలు ఝళిపించారు.

హైదరాబాద్, సెప్టెంబర్ 27 (టీన్యూస్):తెలంగాణపై స్పష్టమైన వైఖరి ప్రకటించకుండా రెండు కళ్ల సిద్ధాంతాన్ని ప్రవచిస్తున్న టీడీపీ అధినేత చంద్రబాబుకు మరో షాక్ తగిలింది. ఆయన వైఖరితో విసిగివేసారిన కామాడ్డి ఎమ్మెల్యే గంపగోవర్థన్ టీడీపీకి దూరమయ్యారు. తెలంగాణపై స్పష్టమైన వైఖరిని ప్రకటించాలని బాబును కోరినా ఎలాంటి స్పందన కనిపించకపోవడం, మరోవైపు నియోజకవర్గ ప్రజల నుంచి ఒత్తిడి పెరుగుతుండడంతో ఆయన ఈ నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నారు. రెండ్రోజుల క్రితమే చంద్రబాబుకు రాజీనామా లేఖ పంపినట్లు తెలిసింది. అదే సమయంలో తెలంగాణ లక్ష్యంగా ఉద్యమిస్తున్న టీఆర్‌ఎస్‌లో చేరాలని నిర్ణయించుకున్నారు. ఈ మేరకు ఆయన మంగళవారం మధ్యాహ్నం కేసీఆర్ ఇంటికి వెళ్లి ఆయనతో ఏకాంతంగా చర్చలు జరిపారు. రెండ్రోజుల్లో నియోజకవర్గంలో ప్రజల సమక్షంలో ఆయన టీఆర్‌ఎస్‌లో చేరనున్నట్లు సమాచారం.

మహబూబ్‌నగర్, నల్లగొండ, వరంగల్, కరీంనగర్, నిజామాబాద్, ఆదిలాబాద్ జిల్లాలకు చెందిన మరో 10 మంది ఎమ్మెల్యేలు కూడా గంప గోవర్ధన్ బాటలోనే ఉన్నారని టీడీపీ వర్గాల ద్వారా తెలిసింది. వాస్తవానికి, తెలంగాణపై చంద్రబాబు వైఖరితో ఆ పార్టీ ఎమ్మెల్యేలు, ఎంపీలు జిల్లాలో తిరుగలేని పరిస్థితి ఏర్పడింది. ఎక్కడకు వెళ్లినా తెలంగాణపై బాబు వైఖరిని స్పష్టం చేయాల్సిందేనని, అలా చేస్తేనే గ్రామాల్లోకి అడుగుపెట్టనిస్తామని ప్రజలు అడుగడుగునా అడ్డుకుంటున్నారు. బాబు కారణంగానే వచ్చిన తెలంగాణ ఆగిపోయిందన్న ప్రచారం తెలంగాణ ప్రజల్లో బలంగా ఉంది. ఈ పరిస్థితుల్లో ఎమ్మెల్యే చెన్నమనేని రమేశ్ టీడీపీని వీడి టీఆర్‌ఎస్‌లో చేరారు. ఆ తర్వాత బాన్సువాడ ఎమ్మెల్యే పోచారం శ్రీనివాసడ్డి కూడా ఇదే బాటలో నడిచారు. టీడీపీ తెలంగాణ ఫోరం కన్వీనర్‌గా వ్యవహరించిన నాగం జనార్దన్‌డ్డితో పాటు ఎమ్మెల్యేలు హరీశ్వర్‌డ్డి, వేణుగోపాలచారి, జోగురామన్నలు టీడీపీలో సైద్ధాంతిక పోరాటం జరిపి.. తెలంగాణకు చంద్రబాబు వ్యతిరేకి అనే విషయాన్ని తేటతెల్లం చేసి మరీ పార్టీని వీడారు. తాజాగా ఉధృతంగా కొనసాగుతున్న సకల జనుల సమ్మెలోనూ టీడీపీ నేతలు పాల్గొనే పరిస్థితి కనిపించడం లేదు.

బెదిరించి చేర్చుకుంటున్నారు : ఎర్రబెల్లి
రాజకీయ జేఏసీ చైర్మన్ కోదండరాం సహకారంతో కేసీఆర్ తమ పార్టీ నేతలను బెదిరించి టీఆర్‌ఎస్‌లో చేర్చుకుంటున్నారని టీడీపీ తెలంగాణ ఫోరం కన్వీనర్ ఎర్రబెల్లి దయాకర్‌రావు ఆరోపించారు. గంపగోవర్ధన్ పార్టీని వీడనున్నారనే నేపథ్యంలో ఆయన మీడియాతో మాట్లాడుతూ ఈ విధంగా స్పందించారు.

టీటీడీపీ అత్యవసర భేటీ.. నేడు రాజీనామాలు!
గంపగోవర్ధన్ కేసీఆర్‌ను కలిసినట్లు తెలియడంతో ఆందోళన చెందిన టీడీపీ తెలంగాణ ఫోరం నేతలు మంగళవారం సాయంత్రం ఎన్టీఆర్ ట్రస్ట్ భవన్‌లో అత్యవసరంగా భేటీ అయ్యారు. తెలంగాణ ప్రజల్లో పార్టీపై నమ్మకం కలిగించాలంటే కాంగ్రెస్‌తో సంబంధం లేకుండా పదవులకు రాజీనామాలు చేయడం మినహా మరో మార్గం లేదన్న నిర్ణయానికి వారు వచ్చినట్లు విశ్వసనీయంగా తెలిసింది. బుధవారం ఉదయం స్పీకర్‌ను కలిసి తమ రాజీనామాలు సమర్పించనున్నట్లు ఓ ఎమ్మెల్యే చెప్పారు.

హైదరాబాద్, సెప్టెంబర్ 27 (టీ న్యూస్) :ఉద్యోగ సంఘాల జేఏసీ చైర్మన్ కే స్వామిగౌడ్‌పై మఫ్టీలో ఉన్న పోలీసులు మంగళవారం నాడు పాశవికంగా దాడి చేశారు. ఆర్టీఏ కమిషనరేట్‌లోకి వచ్చిన లగడపాటిని నిలదీసేందుకు వెళ్లిన సందర్భంగా పోలీసులు ఈ దుందుడుకు చర్యకు పాల్పడ్డారు. అరెస్టు చేసే పేరుతో స్వామిగౌడ్ తదితరులపై ఇష్టం వచ్చినట్లు పిడిగుద్దులు కురిపించారు. మర్మాయవాలతో పాటు పొట్టమీద, ఛాతీపై కొట్టారు. తీవ్ర గాయాలైన స్వామిగౌడ్‌ను చికిత్స నిమిత్తం కేర్ ఆస్పవూతికి తరలించారు. ఆస్పవూతిలో స్వామిగౌడ్‌ను టీఆర్‌ఎస్ అధినేత కేసీఆర్, తదితరులు పరామర్శించారు. స్వామిగౌడ్‌పై ఖాకీల దాడికి నిరసనగా బుధవారం నాడు తెలంగాణ వ్యాప్తంగా రాస్తారోకోలకు కేసీఆర్ పిలుపునిచ్చారు.

రవాణా ఉద్యోగుల బదిలీ ఉత్తర్వులను ఉద్యోగులు, తమ నేతలు, రాజకీయ పార్టీల నాయకుల సహకారంతో సోమవారం రద్దు చేయించుకున్న సంగతి తెలిసిందే. ఆ సందర్భంగా కమిషనరేట్‌లో స్వల్ప ఉద్రిక్త పరిస్థితులు నెలకొన్నాయి. దీంతో అక్కడ ఏదో జరిగిపోయిందన్నట్లు విజయవాడ ఎంపీ, కరడుగట్టిన సమైక్యవాది లగడపాటి రాజగోపాల్ పొద్దున్నే ఆర్టీఏ కార్యాలయం వద్ద వాలిపోయారు. దీనికి నిరసనగా టీఆర్‌ఎస్ ఎమ్మెల్యే హరీశ్‌రావు, మెదక్ జిల్లా టీఆర్‌ఎస్ అధ్యక్షులు రఘునందన్ర్రావు, జూబ్లీహిల్స్ ఎమ్మెల్యే విష్ణువర్ధన్‌డ్డి, బీజేపీ నేత విద్యాసాగర్‌రావు, ఉద్యోగసంఘాల నాయకులు స్వామిగౌడ్, శ్రీనివాస్‌గౌడ్, దేవీవూపసాద్‌రావు, భారీ సంఖ్యలో ఉద్యోగులు రవాణా కమిషనరేట్‌కు చేరుకున్నారు. లగడపాటిని ఆర్టీఏ కార్యాలయం లోపలికి అనుమతించిన పోలీసులు వీరిని మాత్రం అడ్డుకున్నారు. పోలీసులను నెట్టుకుని నాయకులు కమిషనర్ కార్యాలయంలోకి వెళ్లి బైఠాయించారు.

ఈ విషయం తెలుసుకున్న పశ్చిమ మండలం డీసీపీ స్టీఫెన్ రవీంద్ర పెద్ద సంఖ్యలో పోలీసులను, మఫ్టీ పోలీసులను వెంటబెట్టుకుని కమిషనరేట్‌కు వచ్చారు. కమిషనర్ గది నుంచి నేతలు బయటికి వస్తున్న సందర్భంగా పోలీసులు అత్యుత్సాహం ప్రదర్శించి, వారిని బలవంతంగా అరెస్టు చేయడానికి పూనుకున్నారు. దీంతో రవీంవూదను ఉద్దేశించి ‘‘నీ పద్ధతి మార్చుకోవాలి. తెలంగాణవాదులపై ఎందుకు ఇలా ప్రవర్తిస్తున్నావు?’’ అని స్వామిగౌడ్ నిలదీశారు. అప్పటికే గుంపులోకి చొరబడిన మఫ్టీ పోలీసులు కాసేపటికే స్వామిగౌడ్‌ను చుట్టుముట్టారు. రవీంద్ర కను సైగలతో ఆయనపై పిడిగుద్దులు కురిపించారు. పక్కటెముకల మీద తన్నారు. ఛాతీపైనా, పొట్టపైన పిడికిళ్లతో గుద్ది, మర్మావయవాలపైనా కిరాతకంగా, విచక్షణారహితంగా కొట్టారు. దీంతో ఆయన అడుగు ముందుకు వేయలేని పరిస్థితిలో కిందపడిపోయారు. ఓ విధంగా ఆయనపై హత్యాయత్నానికి పోలీసులు ప్రయత్నించినట్లు కనిపించింది.

ఈ పరిస్థితిలో ఉద్యోగ సంఘాల నేతలు వీ శ్రీనివాస్‌గౌడ్, దేవీ ప్రసాద్, విఠల్, కత్తి వెంకటస్వామి, సలీమొద్దీన్, రంజన తదితరులు స్వామిగౌడ్‌ను హుటాహుటిన బంజారాహిల్స్‌లోని కేర్ ఆస్పవూతికి తరలించారు. గంట సేపు చికిత్స చేసిన తర్వాత ఆయన కొద్దిగా కోలుకున్నారు. ఆయన పరిస్థితి నిలకడగా ఉందని ఆయనను పరీక్షించిన వైద్యులు చెప్పారు. స్వామిగౌడ్‌పై దాడి జరిగిన విషయం తెలిసిన టీఆర్‌ఎస్ అధినేత కేసీఆర్ వెంటనే కేర్ ఆస్పవూతికి వచ్చి ఆయనను పరామర్శించారు. కాంగ్రెస్ ఎంపీ మధుయాష్కీ, పలువురు ఉద్యోగ సంఘాల నాయకులు కూడా స్వామిగౌడ్‌ను పరామర్శించారు. పోలీసుల పాశవిక చర్యను తీవ్రంగా ఖండించారు. ఉద్యోగుల నాయకుడిగా స్వామిగౌడ్ నాలుగున్నర కోట్ల ప్రజలకు సంబంధించినవాడని, ఆయనపై పాశవిక దాడి జరిగిన దాడికి నిరసనగా బుధవారం తెలంగాణ అంతటా రాస్తారోకోలు, ప్రదర్శనలు, ధర్నాలు నిర్వహించాలని కేసీఆర్ పిలుపునిచ్చారు.

తెలంగాణ ప్రత్యేక రాష్ట్ర సాధన ఉద్యమంలో వీరోచితంగా అగ్రభాగంలో ఉన్న నాయకులను మట్టుపె రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం కుట్రపూరితంగా వ్యవహరిస్తోందని, ఈ కుట్రలో భాగంగానే స్వామిగౌడ్‌ను హతమార్చేందుకు ప్రయత్నించారని కేసీఆర్ నిప్పులు చెరిగారు. స్వామిగౌడ్‌ను పరామర్శిస్తున్న సమయంలో తన దుఃఖాన్ని కేసీఆర్ ఆపుకోలేకపోయారు. తెలంగాణ ప్రజల ఆకలి దప్పుల మంటలతో సీమాంధ్ర పెత్తందార్లు చెలగాటమాడుతున్నారని, ఇంతకింత అనుభవించతప్పదని ఆయన హెచ్చరించారు. తెలంగాణ ప్రజల ఆకాంక్షల పక్షాన నిలిచిన నాయకులను హింసించి, దౌర్జన్యం చేసి లక్ష్యం నుండి వేరు చేయాలని కుటిల యత్నాలను చేస్తున్నారని మండిపడ్డారు. స్టీఫెన్ రవీంవూదను వదిలిపెట్టే ప్రసక్తి లేదని, హక్కుల కమిషన్‌కు ఫిర్యాదు చేశామని, ఉద్యోగసంఘాల నాయకుడు స్వామిగౌడ్ వాగ్మూలాన్ని హక్కుల కమిషన్ న్యాయమూర్తులు తీసుకున్నారని కేసీఆర్ వివరించారు.

ఇది కచ్చితంగా హత్యా యత్నమేనని, కిరణ్‌సర్కార్ ఇందుకు బాధ్యత వహించాలని ఆయన అన్నారు. ముందుగా సంబంధిత పోలీసు అధికారి స్టీఫెన్ రవీంవూదను వెంటనే సస్పెండ్ చేయాలని ఆయన డిమాండ్ చేశారు. బాధ్యులైన పోలీసు అధికారులపైన కేసు నమోదు చేయాలని, లేనిపక్షంలో తీవ్రపరిణామాలను ఎదుర్కోవాల్సి వస్తుందని ఆయన హెచ్చరించారు. కేసీఆర్‌తో పాటు ఈటెల రాజేందర్, పొలిట్‌బ్యూరో సభ్యుడు జగదీశ్వర్‌డ్డి, శ్రావణ్ స్వామిగౌడ్‌ను పరామర్శించారు.

Mother of all mining scams in Odisha: Rs 30,00,00,00,00,000

This could be the mother of all mining scams, and this time it’s in Odisha, a State which accounts for over 30 percent of India’s iron ore deposits.
A CNN-IBN investigation has exposed a mining scam estimated at Rs 3 lakh crore, a scale that dwarfs the Bellary mining scam in Karnataka and the Goa mining scam exposed by Firstpost recently.
The investigation by Jajati Karan has established that illegal mining flourishes in Odisha’s Keonhjar distric. Five companies have been charge-sheeted for illegal mining by the Odisha government’s vigilance department. Illegal mining operations in three companies – Serajuddin Mines, Rungta Mines and Indrani Patnaik Mines – were caught on camera by the CNN-IBN team. (Watch the video here)

These were among the 243 mines where work had been suspended after an uproar in the Odisha Assembly in 2009.
Yet, today, the illegal mining continues.
At Balda, at the Serajuddin mines, truckloads of iron ore could be seen emerging from the main gates, all of it mined illegally. Even at night, the CNN-IBN team found trucks leaving loaded with the illegally mined iron ore.
At Unchabali, the CNN-IBN team trekked past pillars marking the Indrani Patnaik Mines to the top of a hill where it caught images of illegal mining at a grand scale.
At Jajang, at the Rungta Mines, the team sneaked a camera in for a few minutes to uncover even more illegal mining.
According to the State Vigilance chargesheet, the illegal iron ore mining at these three mines alone has caused the loss of a staggering Rs 2,352 crore to the state exchequer.
Anup Patnaik, Director, Vigilance, says: “Show cause notices have been served on the owners of all the mines that we are investigating. We have also seized their materials, and told them that mining cannot continue till our case is over.”
Independent estimates have valued the illegally mined iron ore at Rs 3 lakh crore. Each tonne of iron ore fetches the mining company nearly Rs 8,000, while the State government gets a measly royalty of Rs 78 per tonne.
The Mines Department of the Odisha government, however, defends the charge-sheeted mine owners.
Says Manoj Ahuja, Secretary, Steel and mines: “The royalty has been paid for, so it’s not illegal in that sense. There are no accounts that somebody has done illegal mining.” At worst, it is a violation of a technical norm, he adds.
Last year, the Indian Bureau of Mines issued a show-cause notice to these mines, but took no further action. Till date, 13 minor officials have been arrested, but none of the senior functionaries have been touched.
In April this year, the Odisha High Court finished its hearing over the demand for a CBI inquiry into the mining scam, but reserved its orders. Activists believe that only an independent and impartial inquiry can reveal the extent of the alleged nexus between mine owners, politicians and bureaucrats
RTI activist Biswajit Mohanty, who has filed a PIL calling for a CBI inquiry into the illegal mining in Odisha, points out that the mining scam was exposed accidentally in 2009, when a ruling BJD MLA asked an innocuous question to the Assembly. The government was then forced to order an inquiry, and the vigilance department conducted an enquiry. But Mohanty argues that the theVigilance Department is ill-equipped and incompetent to investigate a scam of this magnitude.
“It doesn’t have jurisdiction, it cannot investigate beyond the State’s border”, which he says is critical because even the Central Ministry is involved.”They have to be investigated, and it cannot be done by the Vigilance Department.” In addition, he points out, the case has international ramifications because the ore has been exported to other countries, principally China.
“All of us have challenged this enquiry order on the simple ground that it lacks jurisdiction, it lacks competence, it lacks adequate manpower and infrastructure,” Mohanty adds. “We believe it is a cover-up by the State government to protect the miners and allow illegal mining to continue.”
The scam also highlights the issue of “intergenerational equity” which the Supreme Court has highlighted in an earlier vedict, Mohanty noted.
“The State and the Centre have to decide how much of mining can be permitted within, say, 25 years or 50 years or 100 years… At the rate at which leases have been given, we don’t expect resources to last beyond 25 years. This kind of a policy cannot be permitted,” reasons Mohanty.

‘Am I a virus?’ asks UID’s Nilekani. The answer is ‘Yes’

Nandan Nilekani’s honeymoon with neta-babu India is over. India’s Unique ID champion, the man who wants to give every resident of this country his own 12-digit biometric identity, has had a free run so far with the PM giving him a more-or-less free hand to build the unique ID system and related architecture.
Money and resources have not been spared despite the fiscal crunch, with Nilekani, who is Chairman of the Unique ID Authority of India (UIDAI), being given an outlay of Rs 3,023 crore for the biometric capture of 200 million IDs. His mandate has also been broadened to include work on the idea of replacing subsidies with cash transfers, electronic toll collection, and e-governance, among many other things.
But, suddenly, an empire jealous of its power and pelf, is striking bank. The man who had a free run on his ideas is hearing more “maybes”, “buts”, and even straight “noes.”
It’s not just the jholawalas,who never warmed up to the idea of unique IDs, who are gunning for him.

The Finance Ministry, says The Economic Times, has just said no to his demand for a Rs 17,863 crore budget to capture the entire population’s biometric data; the home ministry is unhappy about UIDAI’s way of biometric data collection when its own population register, which carries out the census, could do equally well; the Planning Commission, which is where the UIDAI is located, wants the organisation’s finances and transaction to be monitored; and the labour ministry is wondering how UIDAI has already hit its stride when its mandate has not even been legislated!
The system is balking at Nilekani’s carte blanche and is suspicious of his powers.
That’s probably why Nilekani asks incredulously in a recent interview to The New Yorker: “What am I, a virus?”
The short answer is ‘yes’. Nilekani is the interloper whom the system, dominated by politicians, bureaucrats and an assorted range of activists, is trying to cut down to size.
Preciently, NIlekani’s former mentor and Infosys’ Chairman Emeritus NR Narayana Murthy, talks about the real challenge before Nilekani in The New Yorker article. “Technologically, it is a very simple project. The challenge is in making sure that literally hundreds of thousands of officers fall in line, (and that) they rally to his call and march to his tune.”
Far from marching to his tune, his own former well-wishers are now striking a discordant note.
The Planning Commission under Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, who is a close confidante of the PM, is voicing dissent. A recent Planning Commission note to the Finance Ministry says: “The UADAI’s present system represents a major departure from government procedures and removes all inbuilt checks and balances. We need a relook at the UIDAI’s administrative structure.”
Montek is miffed because the UIDAI is an adjunct to the Planning Commission—that’s how Manmohan Singh managed to smuggle Nilekani into the system—but the Commission doesn’t get to see how he gets his money or uses it. It now wants to put a crimp in Nilekani’s finances by planting a “full-time financial advisor” to track sanctions and clearances, says The Economic Times.
Nor is Montek the only one trying to shrink the Nilekani kingdom. Jairam Ramesh’s rural development ministry wants to do its own biometrics for its flagship National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
But the biggest opposition comes from Nilekani’s ideological foes: civil society poverty-mongers and politicians.
Politicians and civil society activists worry that UIDAI will ultimately seek to restrict their role by trying to exclude the non-poor from state subsidies. The political logic which led Sonia Gandhi to over-rule her jholawalas in the National Advisory Council (NAC) and back Nilekani’s project initially was that the UIDAI would give all the poor an identity and enable them to open bank accounts and make development more inclusive.
But Nilekani’s brief is now changing—and more threatening to politicians and their vote-banks. A cash-strapped Finance Ministry—backed by the PM, his Economic Advisory Council chief C Rangarajan, and the Chief Economic Advisor Kaushik Basu—wants to use the unique ID for curtailing benefits to the undeserving.
Among other things, they want to exclude the non-poor from subsidies, weed out phantom beneficiaries, prevent leakages from the public distribution system and replace price subsidies with direct cash transfers to the really needy. This is a politician’s nightmare, and red rag for the jholawalas who have made poverty their core competence.
Jean Dreze, who was on the NAC till recently, believes that cash transfers won’t work and prefers regular food handouts to the poor. That way, “you’re giving people what you know they need.” It is debatable whether people just want subsidised food or greater freedom of choice (which is what they would get if subsidies were to be replaced with cash transfers), but this has not stopped the critics. Usha  Ramanathan is another anti-UIDAI activist quoted by The New Yorker as being opposed to all that the unique ID system stands for.
However, Nilekani is a man on a mission, and is willing to fight back. He believes that some of his opponents are technophobes who are uncomfortable with the idea that technology can help solve problems related to poverty. His take on his critics: “They don’t believe that technology can solve problems. They say we’ve been looking at these things for decades and we haven’t solved them, and who are you to tell me you’ll solve them in three years?”
But won’t all the data collected through biometrics and technology be misused to invade privacy? Nilekani retort to the The New Yorker: “One (thing to do) is go back and live in a cave. The other is to say this stuff is useful but we must put in checks and balances.”
Nilekani, who left his job at Infosys two years ago as he wanted to seek challenges outside business, is not going to lie down and play dead while his detractors plot his demise. He is clear that he will either succeed fully or fail in his mission to provide all 1.2 billion Indian residents a unique ID. “Five years from the day I took it (the job), you would be able to say I succeeded if people got numbers; and you’d know I screwed up if people didn’t get numbers. So it was zero or one.”
In short, all or nothing.
With the system rising in unison to clip his wings, Nilekani may have to live with partial success of his unique ID project. His current budget will allow him to capture 200 million Indians for his biometric database. And since the finance ministry has said nyet to his proposal to hike outlays to Rs 17,863 crore to cover all 1.2 billion Indians, he will have to bide his time.
Narayana Murthy, who spoke to The New Yorker on Nilekani’s strengths (“networking and schmoozing”) and his challenges,  has this word of advance consolation for him in case he finds himself between success and failure – between zero and one. “I would not hold him (Nilekani) responsible if this project did not take off, if it did not scale up as well as he wants. Most things in India muddle along.”
Nilekani will have to “schmooze” more with politicians and bureaucrats to achieve something that will amount to more than “muddling” along.

Time to take strong action against Pak: US Experts

The Obama Administration should take strong steps against Pakistan, including suspension of all US aid, if Islamabad maintains its defiant attitude and refuses to take action against the perpetrators of the attacks on the US embassy in Afghanistan, a US expert has said.
"If Pakistani leaders maintain their defiance in light of the new information on the cell phone links of the attackers to Pakistani intelligence, the US should begin to take punitive steps toward Islamabad that could presage a breakdown in US Pakistan diplomatic relations," Lisa Curtis of the Heritage Foundation said on Monday.
Curtis, who is an expert on South Asia, was referring to US press reports which revealed that cell phones found on the attackers in the September 13 attack on the US embassy in Kabul were linked to Pakistani intelligence officials.

"Unless Pakistan agrees to take recourse against those ISI officials involved in the September 13 attack and to work more closely with the US in confronting the Haqqani network, the US will have to recalibrate its policy toward Pakistan, despite the potential negative repercussions for other US interests in the region," she said.
Curtis asked the Obama Administration to take several strong steps in the event that Pakistan maintained its defiant attitude and refused to take action against the perpetrators of the attacks on the US embassy.
Seeking to suspend all assistance programmes to Pakistan, including civilian aid, Curtis said even though it was the military and intelligence establishment that bore responsibility for the attack, it would be nearly impossible to provide effective civilian aid programmes without its cooperation.
"Recall the American ambassador to the US for consultations on future policies toward Pakistan," she said.
"The intelligence linking Pakistan to the attack on the US embassy should shake the Administration out of this paralysis. The attack shows that the US s inability to bring change to Pakistan s counter-terrorism policies is risking the entire NATO war effort in Afghanistan and the international community's ability to defeat global terrorism," she said.

Telangana: Industries stop work for second day

Hyderabad: The industrial shutdown in Telangana entered its second day on Tuesday as the protests in the region continued even after 15 days.
Workers of Public Sector Units, including BHEL and Ordnance Factory, and private sector majors like Aurobindo, Reddy Labs and Matrix will abstain from work.
Meanwhile, a road roko agitation is also set to begin later on Tuesday, causing more inconvenience to the already stalled transport system around all 10 districts of the Telangana region.

The protests have virtually paralysed the state administration.
A response from the centre is still awaited on the issue as not even the state Chief Minister been called to asses the situation.

Krishna-Clinton meet: US leans on India, recharts Pak policy

The Obama administration has finally embraced India’s longtime mantra that the best way to eliminate terrorists is by crushing Pakistan’s support of extremist militants. It’s a narrative external affairs minister SM Krishna and US secretary of state Hillary Clinton readily agreed on when they met on Monday in New York.
Krishna endorsed comments made by Admiral Mike Mullen about Pakistan’s perfidy in supporting militants, which means the US and India are reading from the same sheet of music.
“It is necessary for all those countries which have taken the determined position to fight terror to act together and fight it across the board without being selective,” said Krishna. “Secretary Clinton agreed with us.”

The US is recharting its Pakistan policy and the 45-minute meeting between Clinton and Krishna came amid US charges that Pakistan’s spy agency is helping the Haqqani network, which Pakistan denies. Analysts say Washington is now offering Islamabad a stark choice between “positive incentives and negative consequences.”
The US is now more likely to turn off the money tap, and carry out surgical strikes against insurgent dens in Pakistan, with or without Islamabad’s consent. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has promised “operational steps” in Pakistan if the Pakistanis do not halt the Haqqani attacks. That means more drone attacks or US raids into Pakistan.
Krishna told the “Wall Street Journal” that some US anti-terrorism aid had been used to bolster traditional defenses against India. “We have always been cautioning our friends, the United States, that please, please for heaven’s sake make sure that the aid you are giving to Pakistan is not directed and misappropriated to be used against India, a friend of yours,” said Krishna.
Pakistan has not only bled America for money, but withstood pressure all these years to shut down terrorist sanctuaries. Pakistani support for the Haqqani network, a clan of 10,000 to 15,000 fighters based in Pakistan’s tribal areas, has been an open secret for years. It’s only now that the US is hassled enough to publicly accuse Pakistan of stunning duplicity in the war on terror.
Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said last week that the militants responsible for attacks on the US Embassy in Kabul and on American troops this month was a “veritable arm” of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) directorate of the Pakistan military.
“The Haqqani group is certainly a factor which is woven into terrorism,” said Krishna after meeting Clinton.
For Pakistan, the Haqqanis are proxies to exercise power in Afghanistan once America leaves. Ultimately, Pakistan wants to bring together all the Taliban/Islamist groups to form part of the power structure in Kabul. Several influential American lawmakers including Republican senator Mark Kirk now want Washington to pass the baton to India so that Afghanistan does not fall apart the moment US troops leave. They want India to play an active role in Afghanistan so that the rugged country doesn’t slip back into becoming a safe haven for terrorists of the Osama bin Laden kind.
Analysts say that in the months ahead the Obama administration is likely to encourage New Delhi to pour more financial and political resources into Afghanistan, building on the investment it already has made there. In all, Indian reconstruction aid totals $1.2 billion. Krishna told reporters here the investment was worth the risk despite the continued conflict.

Raja should not demand probe on Chidambaram: Karuna

DMK supremo Karunanidhi today extended support to embattled Home Minister P Chidambaram, who is perhaps facing the toughest crisis in his political career over a previously nondescript memorandum between ministries on the 2G spectrum.
Although the veteran politician made the statement off-the-record, he said, “We aren’t opposing him. I’m not for doing anything that would affect a minister from Tamil Nadu.”
The DMK head went to the extent of saying that former Telecom Minister and DMK member A Raja, who is already in jail over the faulty spectrum pricing policy, should not demand a probe on Chidambaram.

“I don’t think Raja said that, since he and Chidambaram decided the 2G spectrum pricing together. But if he has, it’s wrong.”
Political battles have flared up with the appearance of the memorandum in public domain with the main Opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party gunning for Chidambaram’s head.
Former Telecom Minister Arun Shourie during the NDA regime called the communique between the Finance Ministry and the Prime Minister’s Office as the public visual of a ‘civil war’ within the Congress party.
The memorandum was sent by the Finance Ministry to the PMO and reportedly had the approval of senior Congress leader and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The furor created by the RTI discovered memorandum implicates Chidambaram’s role during his tenure as Finance Minister.
The memorandum reportedly mentions that Chidambaram as Finance Minister could have prevented the 2G scam, which has cost the exchequer a whooping Rs 76,00 crore as per CAG estimates.
Janata Party head Subramanium Swamy, who is a litigant in the 2G case told Times Now on Monday that he would provide the Supreme Court with more documents if needed to nail Chidambaram.
The matter will come up at the apex court at 2pm today.
The Supreme Court verdict could be a turning point in the career of India’s Home Minister.

Lagaan makes it to Time’s pick of top 25 sports films

Time magazine has taken the release of the upcoming film Moneyball as an excuse to list the top 25 sports movies of all time, and our homegrown Oscar nominee Lagaan (2001), directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, figures at number 14. In a list dominated by American sports, and one inexplicable pick — The Big Lebowski — it’s a surprise a film about cricket, an Indian one at that, figured on the list.

One of the biggest Bollywood grossers, the film stars Aamir Khan, who leads the charge against the gora saheb for introducing an exacting land tax in the time of drought. A cricket match would decide whether the tax would be levied or not. The storyline was perfectly complemented by AR Rahman’s compositions.
Time called it the “longest and the most enthralling underdog sports movie ever”, “the all-time all-rounder.”
The magazine further says:
