At a time when Telangana is bristling with agitations and protests
and Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K Chandrasekhar Rao is calling the
shots, Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu is quietly making
moves to pull the carpet from under the feet of KCR.
The
TDP chief is meeting members of backward castes, particularly Gouds,
from the region and egging on them to `expose' the TRS chief who has
more or less become synonymous with the Telangana movement.
Naidu assured Gouds that toddy would be detached from the excise and attached to the cooperative department.
"If
TDP is voted to power, it will give toddy societies a free hand, and
officials will not meddle in their affairs," he assured them.
He
was joined in his efforts by senior party leaders, instigating the BCs
to paint KCR as anti-BCs and conduct a `whisper campaign' against him at
`kallu compounds' across the region.
``BCs
are the backbone of TDP and they should support it which is the only
party that protects their rights,'' was the common promise they all made
to them.
Terming the Congress and YSRC
as the parties belonging to "patwaris", TDP senior leader T Devender
Goud said TDP was the only party which served the interests of BCs.
"TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao is vindictive to BCs.
If we support such a leader, it will again lead to political slavery in the region.
The
TDP stands for separate Telangana state," Goud claimed and alleged that
the TRS was, in the name of T movement, trying to eliminate the TDP.
"BCs, particularly Gouds, should spread this message till the next elections,'' he appealed to them.
"Though
there were no transport facilities, a large number of Gouds attended
the meeting. This proved BCs' loyalty to TDP," Goud added.
